How to follow your heart?

今天下午和本科的导师聊了一下，依然围绕在选什么样的专业，现在出国合适不合适等问题。（之前我们已经讨论过一次。）
本来找他抱抱牛腿，聊到最后又绕回到了起点，老师反复问我几个问题：
为什么要出国？
你感兴趣的方向在哪里？选择你的兴趣方向并考虑社会需求。
你做好心理上的准备了吗？
最后又给我一句话：
the most important thing is to follow your heart!

My teacher gave me a suggestion that I can stay in Wenzhou for another 3 years and to be his graduate student. He thought in that time I am much mature than what I am now,and can handle things better. And he said that it will make everything smooth if I have the experience of doing research and get interested in a certain subject which I will get better chance when I still want to recieve a PHD program.  He spoke of the player of weight lifting. He told me that there are possible that a man who can lift regularly 105 kg may succeed in extreme situation in lifting 110 in order to earn the winner price. However, not everybody can make such a thing. If you are not ready, it is better to wait and try again.He said that as long as you have a subject, you will still working hard for it and will not lose. Moreover, the decision of going to where to study can be even more complex than weight lifting. He also made an emphasis that pushing yourself too much can destroy yourself.At last, he said that "The most important thing is to follow your heart."
Then I asked:" how should I follow my heart?"
He asked back :"what do you most like to do if there is going to be aircrash and you are on the plane?"
I said that the answer is always related with relationship and connected by love.
However, I said that what if I want to stay here after 3years? My teacher said that 'it is fine because you have reason to stay and it weight more than the decision to go abroad.' However, I am afraid that I can never be what I want to be and I can never even get to know myself and what I can achieve.
Sometimes, I think love makes people weak.Actually, I do have someone to be missed when I go abroad.However, I am not brave enough to believe in him or in our relationship.I am not sure even if he likes me. I am also very worry about what if everything goes wrong and I was hurt deeply.
So much I am afraid of.
At last, my teacher told me that you have to open your heart . You have to make close friends. You should see thing in positive ways. And you should not push yourself too much.
That is all the things I am trying to do in my college time, and I have tried my best. However, I know that love can be powerful when it is pure and unaffected by the whole other things such as the fame, the status and even the dream. But it can also be weak because people is easy to betray and people have weakness.
So how to follow my heart? I am still confused.

导师的话没错，follow ur heart~我觉得科研是一条挺寂寞的道路，如果真的很爱科研的话，似乎国外才是更好的选择。
还有close friends的建议非常好呀~:lol

not pure research, something related with my major and can fully communicate with people.I have imagined what I will be like, I like nature, and it will be cool if I can get close to it. City does not attracted me, I think I belong to countryside. However, countryside in China is no longer to be what I like full of pollution. I want to be strong and then gain the ability to change the bad thing that has already exist in China. I do not say it out of cliche, I am sincere and I mean it. However, what I am studying now is the biopharmceutic engineering. My teacher said to me that if you are interested more in Chemistry , you can learn biochemistry, if you are fancy about Microbology, it will be good if you can choose it. There are also molecular biology. But when I refer to plant, my teacher said that you should also consider about the future development  of the career. Then my response is that It seems that the major has a limited future? Actually, I am so confused what I am supposed to learn in the America.

如果你将来有志于走学术 科研 faculty的道路，那我觉得你可以学你自己非常想学的专业
如果你是想毕业之后就进业界找工作寻求稳定的收入，想进企业，不局限于在校当faculty，那可能要考虑各专业的前景和就业，多和教授和家里人商量吧

我感觉你可能是想学生态方向吧，生态学的话会比较慢，而且需要经常跑野外，说是和地质差不多，但是确实不怎么赚钱。
不知道你是否有相关的实习经历，或者能亲身体会下各个方向间的差别。其实有时候从外面看和自己真的去做有很大的差别。有时候自己喜欢一个东西，可能是因为对目前的情况的不满意。
其实我觉得反正年轻，有时候没有必要考虑太多，有条件的话都可以尝试下，应该体会会更深的

嗯，但是估计学不了生态了。我比较了一下自己本科的成绩相对较好的一些科目，感觉可能会学biochemistry吧。
