第一次做的时候跪了，可能因为自己死磕着第一个空因而看不出逻辑线索。
回头来看的时候，觉得这个题的突破点应该放在enervating backwater中的enervating这样第二个空只有placid可选。就确定了E的答案。
请大家鉴定一下这个判断。

这个题我本来选的E，因为没觉得startling表示什么特殊的含义。
但答案写的是A，
意思是startling这个词暗示了至少是一种对比状态。所以不能选顺承的意思，要有对比含义。是这个意思吗？

38-4我感觉这道题的解题关键在but
degrade something into something but something. 前面的那个就是一个程度比后面的something
轻的。

另外第一个我pre-phrase的词就是stimulate

40-7我看到necessitate就有种感觉前面会说rejection，后面说re-examine
从startling分析应该是对的

38～4另外这里but是表示顺接递进意思吧？

不知道顺接递进是什么。。。
