However, the magazines also depicted music halls—which competed for patronage with all theaters—as places where crass entertainment corrupted spectators’s taste and morals. 是不是结论dramatic和上文的theater同义？前后先说报纸影响读者，大量介绍theater 又说还会贬低music hall 那么finally这个结论为什么dramatic art的市场不乐观了呐？

是的，两个是同义的。
理解最后一句话的关键就是“which competed for patronage with all theaters”这句话，因为音乐厅与所有剧院都抢patronage，大众对于substandard fare的需求自然会导致patronage大量转移到music hall这样一个crass entertainment腐蚀观众品位的地方，而形成了一个对于高雅剧院艺术的不友好的市场。
