Greetingsfrom Lexington, Kentucky! We are an interdisciplinary research group inthe Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University ofKentucky. We specialize in the modeling, computation and simulation ofmaterials across multiple length- and time-scales. Our missions includeadvancing fundamental understanding of materials under different operatingenvironments and making contributions to material design and discovery fordiverse applications. The impact of our work lies in sustainable energy, batteries, aerospace/ocean/civil structures, protectionmaterials/structures, among others. Our researchgroup has a couple of fully-funded openings for PhDs and several openings for MSs, starting from Fall 2022. The deadline of application is March15th. Experience in the related areas is NOT a must. However, solid backgrounds in mechanics, mathematics and programmingare strongly preferred. Specifically, students with experience or stronginterest in one of the following areas are highly encouraged to apply:
- Atomisticmodeling and simulation;
- Finiteelement analysis;
- Structural optimization;
- Uncertainty quantification;
- C++/MATLAB/Python programming.
