昨天的Email通知
TA $14,300+tuition schorlarship
(钱很少的说,不知道够不够用啊...)

本人菜鸟一名,说说背景,给大家点信心,呵呵

WHU  PHYs 小本,   GPA:84/100
G:  410/800/4.5 (verbal估计没过很多学校的基本线)      
Sub:  800 (据说属于对申请有负面影响的分数...我其实是偏EE的专业,所以有很多纯物理方面知识没有学...)
TOEFL:  630/4.5
TSE: 45(没有用处的分)
有一点研究经历,在实验室干了快一年,结果申请的时候还是没能出paper(失败啊...)
不过我在resume里面把我做过和参与过的项目的abstract写得比较详细,估计这个有点作用,毕竟,research这个东西,你要真的没亲自做过,是很难编造的

申请Buffalo的时候没有陶瓷(没paper,很难套的说)

另外,我还有个LSU(Louisiana state u)的offer,但我准备decliine了,不是太喜欢那个地方

请教两个问题:
1.$14300/yr在Buffalo够花吗?
2.tuition scholarship 是不是就是tuition waiver啊?

最后说两句:
那些大牛们,快把你们手里那些肯定不会去的学校的offer拒掉吧,留给我们这些人多点机会啊.也许50名的学校你们都看不起,可我觉得很好啊,所以快拒掉那些你们肯定不会去的学校的offer吧...

半个月以前收到的email通知，问了小米，正式的学校信件要1个月后mail到。
但是email中没有称谓，如Dear ***之类的。

原文开头如下：
“February 17, 2006
Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to the M.S. program in Computer Science  at Iowa State University. Admission to our graduate program in the Department of Computer Science is extremely competitive. Consequently, we are able to accept only a handful of applicants from among the hundreds who apply.  
……”

好久不敢上寄托了，因为怕看到那么多offer受刺激。
连续N多天，一点消息都没有。当时就想哪怕给我个拒信呀，可是依然什么也没有。
刚才只是习惯性的每天看看邮箱，居然来了AD。
虽然比这里的许多牛OFFER还差很远，但对我这种G分狂次的人已经可以安慰一下了。
——恩，AD总会来的……

1. 去年12月28拿到Purdue的RA, TW+$23000/year
2. 今年2月中旬拿到Indiana-Bloomington的fellowship, TW+$22500/year
3. 上周面完Pittsburgh U, 医学方向，未果，等消息中
4. 昨晚面完Ohio State U, 气氛融洽，较有把握
5. 此外Notre Dame的某个教授反陶瓷说想让我去他的lab，结果应在本月知道。此校综合排名在16，但在中国学生中名气不大，考虑中

Auburn的，前两天教授说已经发了，可是没等到。于是骚扰小米，居然不回。
没办法，又去骚扰教授，说那个XX小米，不回我信，让我等得很心焦，55555
然后估计教授去找小米talk了一下，吓得小米一分钟内连发了两封offer，说原来发错邮箱了
总之，offer是来了，但是要3月9号前作决定。怎么办呢？毕竟这个offer多少是我催来的，总不能再跟他们说宽限一下吧？
我已经搜到415相关规定了，貌似可以先email接受，415前可以在反悔的，可是这种事情做起来心里总是过意不去的
我目前只收到这一个offer，不敢轻举妄动啊，大家给点儿意见？哪怕鄙视我一下下也好啊

对了，我major是chem

It is my pleasure to let you know informally that you will soon hear officially from the Graduate Studies office at Ohio University that the School of Journalism has admitted you to the Master of Science in journalism program beginning in Fall Quarter, 2006.

With admission, you are being offered a graduate associateship for academic year 2006-2007, which provides a stipend of $9,500 and a waiver of tuition and almost all student fees. In exchange, you will be required to work 15 hours a week (10 weeks a quarter) and enroll in 15 hours of graduate-level coursework each quarter.......

邮箱整整寂静了一周，一晚上收到四封邮件，all from USA。其中一封是purdue的civil engineering 的AD通知，Unfortunately，no finicial assisstantship。不过之前已经收到一个自己非常满意的offer，所以当这个是对自己的一个小小的鼓励，不陶瓷转offer了。我只申请了三所学校，现在就等最后一所学校的结果了。

BTW,我的背景是个鸡肋。硕士研究生三年级，没有第一作者文章，倒是有5篇第二，第三作者的文章，GPA本科3.6,研究生3.7。问题出在GRE（560/800/3.0）和TOEFL（620/4.0）上。如果不是因为做研究没时间，被逼在去年十月份同时参加GRE和TOEFL考试，导致寄申请材料的时候还不知道自己这么烂的考试成绩，估计我就不会申请美国的这三所学校了，这种GRE成绩实在丢人啊。

所以我想说一切皆有可能，只有我们想不到的，没有我们做不到的。送给gter上还在等待的战友。

Acceptance of an offer of financial support for the next academic year by a prospective or enrolled graduate student completes an agreement that both student and graduate school expect to honor.  Students are under no obligation to respond to offers of financial support prior to March 15.  In those instances in which a student accepts an offer before March 15, but subsequently desires to withdraw that acceptance, the student may submit in writing a resignation of the appointment at any time through Marchl 15.  However, an acceptance given or left in force after March 15 commits the student not to accept another offer without first obtaining a written release from the institution to which a commitment has been made.  Similarly, an offer by an institution after March 15 is conditional on presentation by the student of the written release from any previously accepted offer from another institution.
