Ohio University给我来了环境检测与规划的MASTER全奖，要我在3月15号之前回复。
但是我更想去SUNY-ESF  

接着说，SUNY-ESF申请的专业是环境工程（GIS和遥感方向），但录取结果还要过2-3周，我前两天一着急先答应了OHIO，我其实是更想学SUNY的，要是到是SUNY来消息后我还可以返回吗？大家说哪个专业更有前途啊？

The Department of Economics will offer you an assistantship for the
2006-2007 academic year.  At a minimum this assistantship comes with
a stipend of $9,180 and carries a waiver of your academic fees and tuition,
an amount estimated to be $16,313 for the year when you carry nine to twelve hours of course work per semester. Maintenance ofthis support (including tuition waivers) is contingent on your remaining in good academic standing in the University and making satisfactory

今天早上收到的，是admission committee director发来的。
Dear XXX,

I have good news for you: we're going to be making you an offer of admission
and financial support to the University of Washington Graduate Program in
Mathematics.  The details have not yet been finalized, but the offer will
include at least a five-year renewable Teaching Assistantship plus a
supplementary financial award, for a total stipend of at least $19,000 per
year.  It will also include a waiver of tuition, and medical, dental, and
vision coverage for yourself at no cost, with an option to purchase coverage
for your dependents at reduced cost.

本人非牛人，本科CS,背景：GPA:3.82，GRE：Q:800，V:650，4.5, TOEFL:633
TSE是去年11月考的，一直没去取成绩，所以不知确切的分数。但是当时免费送分的学校填了UW,而且UW对TSE要求很高，要拿TA就要有55的TSE，所以估计TSE在55左右。
另外我本科是CS，申了几个math是保底用的，毕竟CS和math的关系太密切了。当初选择申UW的math和CS主要是由于microsoft在Seattle，和UW的math和CS系有密切的合作。

这一段时间的心情和大家一样，非常焦急。同时我又非常沮丧，因为之前有一个很好的机会丢掉了。2月初时收到了UCSB的CS的电话面试，面试很成功，教授说我是top candidate,很想让我去。之后我就以为肯定能拿到offer了，心情非常好。可是谁知2周后，教授来信说不能录取我了，我问原因，他说不是我的背景不好，而是录取的学生与他们教授的研究方向更match.我当时感觉天好像塌了一样，好几天都吃不下饭。后来想了想，可能和面试时说了我也申请了UCSD以及一些比UCSB稍好的其他学校有关，记的当时说完这个后，他的口气有些变化，没太明白他说的什么意思，只听情了什么sister university之类的词。不管什么原因，当时心情差到了极点，不过总算有了保底的offer，但是还是焦急的企盼着CS的offer.

另外，近期版上经常讨论本科学校好坏对申请的影响。我想谈一下我的看法。我觉得现在大家完全不要去用封建的只看出身，不看真材实学的眼光去衡量一个人。我的观点是，不管出不出国，一切的成功都是看你个人的能力和努力，与你的出身关系不大。如果只谈出国这件事，如果你相信自己真的是有能力有潜力的人，就要大胆的努力去作，不用去管什么怕自己的学校不好就比别人低一等。一位美国的prof.曾经说过，大概是"We admit an applicant as an individual, not by his school name." 意思就是要作为一个整体看这个申请人，而不是只看学校。而且美国教授也很清楚咱们中国的选拔机制，依旧是只认考试分数的选拔。我不否认有很多擅长考试的好学生，能够进入名校。但是有同样多的好学生是无法用考试这种单一的手段衡量的，导致很多好学生没有机会进入他们应该属于的学校。而且现行的按志愿录取的机制，使得很多一志愿落榜的学生一下子落入差了好几个档次的学校。（我身边有很多的朋友都是第一志愿没被清华北大录取，导致只能上所谓的烂校的，其实他们的分数完全可以上除去那两所学校外的其他任何一所学校）。 种种的这些因素，使得我们中国是绝对不能单单只从学校来评价一个学生的。这也就更映衬出来美国在选拔人才方面的先进，不光从考试的分数，而是从全方位的衡量一名学生。如果美国的学校也像中国学校一样，只按照GRE分数的排序来招学生，我想这是谁都不期望的吧。
因此，我觉得不管你出自于什么学校，只要你是一个有想法，有理想，有能力，肯吃苦的学生，就一定能够实现自己的愿望。

说的有些多了，只是想给非名校的同学们打打气，如果有冒犯其他同学的地方，请多包涵。从下星期一开始，又要和大家一起焦急的等待offer了，忠心的祝愿各位CS,math,ee.....所有专业的战友们，还有我自己，能够拿到自己理想的offer！同时也希望各位拿到了offer的同学们，能多来版上报一下，另外最好能加上自己的背景，使得信息能够共享，而且给还没拿到offer的同学一些参照。

今天收的平信，BU研究生院寄来的。信上的时间是2月7号。

I am pleased to inform you that you have been found academically qualified
for admission into the post-Master's Ph.d degree program in political science

  下面几段大意是说，在最后录取之前你要提交你的赞助人的财力证明。
  
   另外有一张纸列出了在BU所需要的各种开销费用。总共这两张纸。

   我也不明白是什么意思，研究生院在信里说了正在考虑我的财政资助申请，为什么还在信里写提交赞助人财力证明的内容呢？大家看有希望吗？还有，我申请的可是秋季入学，怎么录到春季学期里了？我可还没毕业呢。大家帮忙分析一下。多谢各位！

今早拿到第一个offer.political science@uni of missouri at columbia. tuition waivor+$5560(钱不多,自己大概还要添5000刀).

背景嘛,学校还好,但非北大清华,GPA3.68,GRE560+800+4.0,TOEFL 657+5,无paper.

虽然不是大offer,但是因为是第一个,所以还是很高兴.

这个帖子主要是来感谢gter这里所有的人的!!!!从我准备GT,到后来知道G考得很烂(作文太丢人了...),曾经想过放弃,再到后来申请过程中遇到的各种问题和困难,都是gter上的朋友一直给我鼓励和帮助!!!虽然大家互相都不认识,但是很多人每次都是很仔细很耐心的给我解释,在这里我要感谢所有帮助过我的人!!!!! 谢谢大家!我以后也会尽我全力帮助所有需要帮助的人. 申请一路上,都是gter伴随我走过来的,我觉得我也跟很多人一样,从对申请什么都不懂,到现在拿到自己的第一个offer,都要感谢gter这里的朋友们的不计回报的帮助. hey guys, i wanna say your help means a lot to me! and i'm gonna pass it along to others.
