With the astonishing evolvement of science and technology within the global scope, an inconsistent trend appears so swiftly and violently that we have to pay attention to the non mainstream areas which nowadays play a vital role in society. A majority of common people resort to the quirky approach as soon as they meet with difficulties. Does such approach have actual function to address problems which mainstream science cannot? In my point of view, non mainstream areas of inquiry bear little help in reality.

Admittedly, psychic and psychological pursuits such as astrology and tarat card remain specific function with the respect to implant people who is losing hope or experiencing tragedy comfort to some extent. Imagine a person in the dark would feel better as he have a solid conviction that bright would come immediately. Perhaps only holding the unrealistic wish can the person encourage himself to be brave. In this scenario no sort of sciences can do him a favor. Look around our neighbours, quite a few bear a habit of fortune-telling when confronting difficulties. However, can fortune-telling really provide them approach by which to solve problems apart from offering them little courage in order to wait for the next day? The answer is doubtless no. There are several fatal disadvantages while person only rely on such blind worship.

Depending on superstitions bring about violent harm not only to individuals but to the whole society as well. Consider on the personal level at first, people who immerses himself into the sea of blind faith to seek for comfort and extrication as soon as facing difficulties has no appetite for attaining strength from science and technology. Nor does he resort to other competent colleagues for help because of his assurance that paranormal pursuits can extricate him. With such kind of thought he can no longer perfect himself, thus he loses the true meaning of life meanwhile. What a poor man if one falls into such dilemma. On the social level, imagine how rapidly the society will deteriorate when persons whose minds are full of superstition fill in the globe. Both liberal arts and science would take no step forward, let alone progress. History is replete with examples that scholars take advantage of telescope to evolve mainstream science, take Galileo for example, he is the first person to invent telescope to observe sky. Though his hard research, he overthrew the theory which is claimed that the earth is the center of the universe. Thousands of years later, it is ridiculous that modern people use the same tool to foretell what are the fate of themselves. It is in deed the retreat of civilization of human beings.

The destination of superstition is death for the reason that it is not rooted in science. Everything existing in the world can be explained by science. The theory of the origin of creatures is a vivid instance to illustrate the statement. In the ancient times human believe in the assertion that human being are created by god. With the development of science, Darwin pointed out that human are evolved from orangs. Since then one kind of blind faith has been ruled out. Therefore, superstition is unable to survive within the mature of physical science.

In the final analysis, there is no possibility that non mainstream areas of inquiry play a significant role in our life, if at present some superstition exists in the society, superstition would be eliminated in some day.
