From my point of view, it is advisable to choose a long vacation rather than the short one. My arguments for this point are listed as follow.

First of all, some minor disadvantages to take a long vacation include both a lack of the communication with schoolmates and the need to take more time to go over the knowledge learned last semester. For instance, the students in school may have a lot of things in common and to talk about, bagatelles, questions or jokes. These will occur regularly with the communication of each day. However, after a long vacation, they will be a little rusty with each other especially for the students in primary or secondary school. Another drawback is that students will forget some knowledge what they learned last semester, the teachers have to use more time to go over it than take a short vacation.

Even though there may be one or two disadvantages to have a long vacation, the advantages will surely overweigh them. By using the long vacation well enough, students can gain much more than they thought. It is said that it is better to see for onetime rather than to hear for many times. From the school, from the textbooks, we learned the Pyramid, the Great Wall, the Statue of Liberty and so on. A long vacation can ensure us to have enough time to travel around. We can learn from the inhabitants, the buildings, or the environments around. All these things, however, may have already read a thousand times in the textbooks without a vivid scene. Also, a long vacation can also support enough time to take a job in a company, an export fair or a high-tech fair to increase our social experiments.

Another advantage for the long one is that we have got enough time to plan for another language study or take a strengthened training hold by the local gymnasium. A long lasting courses or training can surely give us a guarantee in what we learn. An enlighten courses last two months, can give us a basic concept, a training last two months, can make sure our ability increase which a short one can not give us.

Although I agree that they may several disadvantages to take a long vacation, I feel that the advantages are more obvious. In a long vacation, we can set up our own plan, organize our own timetable and practice it. All this things, in a short vacation, seems too much to consider.
