ISSUE130 - "How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society.
1 There is not denying that socialization is indispensable in our society.
2 However, socialization is not the only factor determining the destiny of society.
3 Although teenage pregnancy, dropping out of schools and drug abuse still catch people’s concern, no one can deny the significance of education currently.

The speaker claims that the destiny of society is determined by the socialization of children, and unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring a better society. I concede that the socialization of children is very important to the development of our society. However, the socialization is only one of the factors which determine the destiny of society. In addition, nowadays, education has played an important role in raising children.

There is not denying that socialization is indispensable in our society. With the rapid development of science and technology, many things are related with each other then our society calls for cooperation and communication which is the base of socialization. For example, a myriad of products in our market cannot be created only by one individual. It usually needs different persons or organizations functioning in different fields to finish a complete product. Moreover, without cooperation and communication, many global problems are hard to be solved such as environmental issues. Because the polluted air and water can influence all over the world, only one country taking sound measurements to minimize the negative effect is far enough. It needs all the countries in the world cooperate to fight against the environmental problems. Therefore, socialization is so crucial that we should be taught when we are a child.

However, socialization is not the only factor determining the destiny of society. There are many other characters besides socialization help prompt the development of society. Retrospect the long history of our human beings, we can see many important invents such as steam engine, light bulb, telephone contributing to our better lives and many precious virtues reflected from those inventors such as Watt, Edison, Bell are encouraging us. These virtues involve diligence, persistence, creativity (innovation). When we do any thing, those virtues are also indispensable for us to go to success. If we only have the character of socialization, we cannot imagine how far we can go.
                              
Although teenage pregnancy, dropping out of schools and drug abuse still arouse people’s attention, no one can deny the significance of education currently. Education serving as a tool to cultivate children is the guarantee of a prosperous society. Now, to raise the children, the hope of our society well and make them become the constructors of our future society, we have improved some curricula according to the changing needs of our society. Current curricula of education not only teach children the basic science and technology knowledge which are the symbol of a country with high competition level but also instruct children the importance of cooperation, communication, diligence and other important virtues. Nowadays, more and more attention is paid to the cultivation of children, and more and more resources have been taken advantage of to raise children. Thanks to the information technologies, it is convenient for children to search the information they need by internet, TV, Broadcast. In addition, schools have brought many advanced facilities to improve instruction such as multimedia. With the rich instructing materials children can learn knowledge more and in depth and children will become more and more intelligent than before. It is hopeful that children can bring about a better society due to their improved abilities.

All in all, although socialization of children is of importance to our society, it is not the only factor. To better develop our society, we also need many other characters such as diligence, persistence, creativity and so on. And our current education system has contributed to the cultivation of children who can help bring about a better society.
