TOPIC: ISSUE48 - "The study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. The most significant events and trends in history were made possible not by the famous few, but by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten."

The defenition is history my not simply mean the boring passing years, but contains lots of legends of those individuals. The speaker asserts that the vast quantity of people, not eve written in the history books, make to history prevailing and developing. Howeve I do not agree with the speaker, for he overlooks the influrence of those key individuals among the group.
Admittededly, the great contribution of the mass can never be overlooked when comes to science. Even without them our life will not be so fantastic. We every one is just a small atom which entirelly makes up the world. As Newton ever said, every tiny of the technology development stand on the shoulder of the giant. The giant maynot be others, but the groups of people whose identities have long been fogotten. Science is just like that. We each one can only hold enough knowledge to add a small rung to the ladder, but together we can climb to the moon.Deeply though, Open the history book, we can find dozens of names called Einsten, Newton, Lincoln and so on. Without the past faileur, without the trust and support of the people, they may become one member of the mass that have been forgotten.
However, even the mass are need and necessary, they can only be the fuel of the ship, never the helm or the sail. The importance of the key person is always much more crucial than all other together. Without EsenHouse, no matter how many soilders there are, they can only be the soilders, never be the army. Without John Lenon, no matter how melody other members are singing, never be the Beatles. Without Wart, no matter how much water you boiled, never be the vapar engine. So we should take more emphasis on those key individuals who can entirely affect the history.
Next, when comes to economic, the role of the key person, or the minoriy, will be even more important. There is a rule called 80/20 rule, submitted by a famous economist Pareira in the 17th century. Up till now, we still believe in the role and use it into every field of our world. The rule shows that the eighty percent of contribution due to the twenty percent of the people. Meanwhile, eighty percent of country's possession is grabbed in the twenty percent of the millinare. Even the eighty percent of the history is written by the twenty percent of the key role.
Finally, it can be also true that individuals is much more important than the mass, when comes to the politics. Abraham Lincoln is undoubted the most influrent president in the American history. His contribution due to the black slaver finally make the north part of United States win the civil war. Without him, thousands of black people should suffer more years to be liberated.
Above all, while I am not the Luddite, I do believe that we need a bit more ballance between the key role and the groups of people behind him. Without the mass, the individuals will not be the key role, but just another member of the forgotten group. Without the individuals, the mass will not the powerful group, but millions of tiny atoms. To justify the history, we should take the same importance to the individual and the group. |
