In this argument, the author draw a conclusion that the number of deer in arctic is inclined to decrease as a result of deer being unable to follow their age-old migration patterns across the frozen sea according to the reports from local hunters. In my view, the argument is well presented but not well-reasoned. Here are my three reasons.
Firstly, the conclusion that deer in arctic is declining
is based on the reports from the local hunters, however, the author offer no evidence to substantiate the reports results are statistically reliable .The author must show that the investigation constitutes a sufficiently large sample of the hunters ,and that sample is representative of all different kinds of hunters in different oceans. Otherwise, the author can not confidently draw any general conclusions in case the possibility that
the data is merely access from one certain ocean, which will make us draw a fallacious conclusion. In addition, it is also possible that in this season the deer in arctic tend to rest in their home all day ,causing less chance happen to encounter the hunters, which lead local hunters to the illusion that the deer population is declining.

Secondly, the argument assumes that the recent global warming trends cause the local sea ice to melt, which is unaccepted if there is no compelling evidence to support the connection between these two events. It is possible the fact that the local ice melting is not the result of the global warming trend, or that even though the ice of most oceans in this world has melt ,it is not including the place appeared in this argument.

Finally, the author is failing to consider other possible alternatives to cause the decline in local deer population, besides these deer are unable to follow their old-age patterns across the frozen sea. Perhaps food the deer feed on becomes considerably rare because of the higher temperature , which the deer is failing to adapt to .Moreover, it is possible that after a large range of hunting ,the deer population is decreased to the lowest point in the history, so that it requires a long time to recover. Although the old-age patterns across the frozen sea are very important to the survival of the local deer, we should also take the other alternatives into account to help us explore the actual causes forcing the decline in deer population from a overall standpoint.

In sum, the reasoning behind the conclusion that the pupolation declining is the result of deer being unable to follow their old patterns seems logical as presented. However, before any conclusions are made, we should evaluate all possible alternatives and causes.
