答案给的是BD，但我觉得是答案错了，我选的是BF.
首先最后的无头句的逻辑主语是the novelist，fencing in的意思是限制，turn an imagination (which is meant to run wild)意思是转变那种狂野的肆无忌惮的想象力。所以第一空也应该说他最近转变了原来的那种肆无忌惮的风格，所以 the radically experimental forms 和 fencing in and turning an imagination meant to run wild同意重复,填一个和fence in ,turn同义的词，那就是forsake放弃，说明他放弃了这种肆无忌惮激进的想法；第二空with which和修饰的是 the radically experimental forms，并且前面说的是has forsaken，后面说的是made his reputation，一个现在一个以前，有时间对比啊，所以forsake和时间对比两次取反直接取同了，说的就是他以前通过这种激进的形式获得了一个怎样的名声，那当然应该是激进了。不是很懂为什么答案选conventional，直接反了啊。

为什么可以把这里的in favor of理解成in order to呢，难道不能把它理解成只是修饰reputation的吗

可以是 forsake something (in favor of)  也可以是 make something (in favor of)

为什么是前者而不是后者是因为：

1. 标点符号
the radically experimental forms 和 with which he made his reputation 之间没有逗号说明这个从句不会是个特别复杂的句子，否则很容易产生歧义。

2. 语义（最重要的）
如果按照你的理解。。。 这里的more + adj. 和前面的 radically experimental 的搭配就很怪异了。因为 radical 的反面是 not radical at all 或者 conventional，而不是 less provocative （注意这里more换成了less因为该理解在原句里是以前比现在more provocative，而这里顺序换为现在比以前less provocative）。

谢谢,确实发现那个in favor of是和forsake正好取反的，今天还碰巧发现一道也是in favor of容易产生“错觉”的一道题。
