题目:Some people believe that society should try to save every plant and animal species, despite the expense to humans in effort, time, and financial well-being. Others believe that society need not make extraordinary efforts, especially at a great cost in money and jobs, to save endangered species.
Write a response in which you discuss which view more closely aligns with your own position and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should address both of the views presented.
Well, according to the argument I realized that it does our responsibility to take care of our environment and diversity, after all, we could barely survive without the stability of the our living conditions. However, given the limited resources and our needs to development, we shall never compromise our future to every piece of natural news, we do not have such amount time and energy to deal with every single plant or animal which was endangered after all.
When it comes to human activities, we humans no longer have to wait to adapt to the environment through natural selection, in stead, we simply change the environment to meet our needs, and to be the dominate species of life and bring environmental change wherever we go. Every single tree was cut down and every building was built on, squeezing other species into a small tiny corner where they hardly can afford themselves. So, we owe this kind of liability protecting endangered animals as well as plants in certain degree. Thus, there are so many Nature Conservation been launched in the purpose of offering suitable habitats and mostly making up what we humans have done impulsively. Had we done nothing effectively saving certain species, especially the ones are conducive to our economics or further development, we could only see them on our text books in the form of pictures or just several lines of description. That is pathetic. Besides, we shall never ignore its chain reaction: if the deer died out, where are the wolves supposed to find food?
Though we may do something to deter the process of extinguish, of course we have precipitated it, we ultimately have to give in the powerful natural selection: die or adapt. In addition, we do not have so much time, money and energy devoting to every vulnerable species. If we do, we no doubt risking squandering our resources which could be applied to relieve the demanding and immediate problems such as education equipments improvement, medical research and environmental protection. Animals and plants can seldom survive without aids in today's circumstance, and we humans also need to march on. If we stopped helping them all, our future might probably go further which we may spend another decades to catch up. That teaches us that we have to learn how to make choices.
To sum up, though it is important to assist those species at the edge of extinction, the point is that whether they can surmount their fate has nothing to do with human beings but their own -- adaptability. Here comes a conclusion that we need to strike a balance between diversity and our own further development according to the finite resources. |
