10.12作文：Some people think that government and companies should keep their patents forever , while others think that governments and companies should share their discoveries with all the scientists in the world. What is your opinion and why? Use specific reasons to support your answer. (Technology)

Do government and companies should keep their patents? Some people may think they should share their discoveries with others. However, I think this opinion is so superficial that they overlook many disadvantages, such as lacking of protection of copyright and being harmful for development of technology due to copy, resulting from sharing discoveries. Therefore, I support that patents should be protected.
Admittedly, the benefit of many companies will be hurt, if there were no protection of their patents. Usually, before the patents can bring into(bring是及物动词，into可去掉) effect and thus lead to profit, the institutions have to invest a lot of money, people and time. If they reveal their core technology to public, their achievement might be copied by other companies which threat the interest of original institution. Taking the patent of medicine as example, developing of new medicine requires many efforts, such as research of the disease and doing(去掉doing，更简洁，并且与and之前的名词结构research对应，而不是ing动词分词) experiments in lab. During the long time of development, the medicine company has to provide supports in hiring scientists and buying equipments which need（needs?） plenty of money in advance. Fortunately, the new medicine is helpful for patients. But, if they publish the medicine with details in the way to make the medicine, then its opponents can create the same medicine and put it into market with lower price. In spite of the lower price, its opponents can still earn money, since they invest no money in development. On the contrast(改成in contrast), the sale of original company will reduce(改成be reduced) because the masses would like to buy the cheaper one. It will make a little profit even cannot balance the investment(有点奇怪。改成It will make too little profit to balance the investment?). As a result, I strongly recommend that patents should be protected.
Furthermore, without protection of patents, technology will be easily be copied which is harmful for development of technology. The core of advancing technology is innovation. The behavior of copying hurts the motivation of innovation. Since many people like shortcut, they would like to easily use the achievement of others instead of diligent developing their own technology. In order to protect the innovation, I call everyone to respect the achievement of others. In addition, lacking of innovation, the products in market will lack of variety. The similar product cannot meet the need of consumers. For instance, if all phone companies act like Samsung to copy the design of iphone, the various phones will not exist. Consequently, it is necessary to keep the patent.
Besides, keeping patents is unequal to keeping secret of the discovery（不太明白这句话要表达什么~）. Through buying patents, the worldwide scientists can study and use the technology. Accordingly, if you really want to make use of the technology, you can buy its patent. And it also can avoid hurting the benefit of original inventors. This method is just like buying book that you have to buy the book, if you want to read it（这句话我也木有读明白…）.
In conclusion, the(the可以删掉，因为并不是特指某个公司) company（重申观点的时候要不要加上government？毕竟题目中的主语是governments and companies） should keep the patents. If other companies want to utilize this technology, they have to pay money. The system of patent can protect not only the benefit of inventor, but also the development of technology.
