The reading passage is mainly discussing one such painting, known as Portrait of an Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet is not the work of Rembrandt. However, in the listening material, the speaker point out that the work is really the work of Rembrandt.
In the first place, the speaker supports that the painting show that the fur collar was painted over top of the painting about 100 years after the painting was made. And people by making a look like formal portraits of a lady to increase its value.<someone probably want to increase the painting’s value by making a look like formal of a characteristic ** lady> In the contrast, the reading passage thinks that there is something inconsistent about the way the woman in the portrait is dressed. And the coat she is wearing has a luxurious fur collar that no servant could afford.
In the second place, the speaker reckons that Once the painting <of the ** for color>was removed, the original painting could be seen. In the original painting, the woman wear a light color coat reflect light that illuminate part of woman's face. And light and shadow make woman very realistic. Contradicting what is stated in the passage that Rembrandt was a master of painting light and shadow, but in this painting these elements do not fit together.
Finally, the speaker raises the issue that when fur collar was added, wood panel also will be enlarge with extra<wood> pieces to grow size and top to made <the> painting more grand and <more> valuable. <So the original painting actually painted on a single piece of work as it was expected from the Rembrandt painting>. What’s more, the painting used the same tree as the material like the other paintings by Rembrandt. The opinion disagrees in the reading passage that it was painted on a panel made of several pieces of wood glued together.
To sum up, the content in the reading passage are totally jeopardized by the speaker and the speaker has totally different ideas on the topics made in the reading.
