复习开始得比较晚，最近考试又特别多，Issue一直没改过，今天才发现上课发的新东方批改网的充值卡4月22号过期。。。 我想死的心都有了，这周我就纯大霉人一个。烦各位兄弟姐妹赐教啦！ 不胜感激！^-^

Issue 41“High-profile awards such as the Nobel Prize are actually damaging to society because they suggest that only a few people deserve such recognitions. ”

When looking through tens of thousands of years of anthropological development, awarding is without doubt one of the most effective and brilliant methods encouraging man to continue enterprise which he is engaging in. There were millions of awarding forms in history and several successful ones have been reserved till now, such as the Fields Medal for Outstanding Discoveries in Mathematics, the Grammy Award recognizing achievements in music industry, the well-known Academy Award of Merit, the Pritzker Architecture Prize and so forth. All these prizes remind people either of the evolution of technology and culture or how fascinated human’s intelligence and creativity are. It is palpably of great emphasis for society. So I cannot quite applaud for the proposition that high-profile award is harmful to the masses with any reason.

First and foremost, high-profile awards is an effective carrier which delivers ample messages of all aspects in our society, to take the Noble Prize for instance, including biology, chemistry, medical science, physics, peace, economics, from culture to science, reflecting the most remarkable advances in both civilization and physical respect in the past one year. And regardless of people’s race, age, sexual, religion or nationality, the prize receivers are selected all around the world for merely their professional contribution. No matter who you are, there is fairly equal odd for you to win the prize. Whereas there should be only one person to be the best. Although no more than twenty persons win the Nobel Prize each year, every single man has the potential to get the recognition from the prize committee and would not be refused for any reason. Instead of conveying a priority to the masses, high-profile awards actually do a pragmatic job in providing a positive atmosphere and vital value that elicits and experts deserve deference from the whole world and further encouraging members of general society to not only learn from them to improve personal merits but also devote themselves in significant and meaningful realm of study or analysis for all mankind by setting up contemporary models.

Being a wide spreading way to advocating the good and free-will, highly profiled prizes is bound to lay
great influence on the rest of citizens in an era when people enjoy a boom of information. Talented scholars who were accustomed to staying in lab or poverty region concerning totally on their careers are now known to and remembered by the masses for their stories and .moral merits. Before winning the Noble Prize of Economics for his devotion to the Game Theory which is regarded as one of the greatest and most basic economical principles, Princeton’s professor John Nash would had never come up with an illusion that his occurrence was able to be put on screen, he himself would had been the prototype of an two-hour-long movie called <Beautiful Mind>. Now Nash has become many teenagers’ moral model due to his consistence, strong will and his passion for academic study spreading worldwide after the awarding ceremony in Sweden. People gradually show more and more admiration to knowledge thanks to the awards’ impact on them. Our society in due course enjoys progress in all domains.

Despite of all the profound impacts as well as promotion to society’s development and human’s values that has been referred to above, we must not slight the shortages high level awards may bring to us one day resulting from our inappropriate attitude or scanty warnings. If the prize itself is advocated so excessively that scholars are no longer driven by the initial and intrinsic pure love for his profession but by a desire for awards, prizes or reputation and money that will follow, our world were to lose essential passion and fuel for further prospering to a higher level. Moreover, audience may be more interested in the superficial respects of a certain award like funding, scholarship or intricate voting process while blind to the austere situation a prize winner has encountered and great efforts he has taken.

Nonetheless, there is no denying the fact that high-level awards do harm to our society after demonstrating comprehensively from dialectic and analytical perspective with a rational attitude as the premise. It sets up a worldwide exceptional acting model to mankind.
