Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: Movies andtelevisions have more negative effects than positive effects on the way youngpeople behave. Nowadays movies and televisions play an irreplaceable role in keeping up with the latest trend in the global environment. Every part of our life is somehow influencedby them. Despite the fact that media has a great power to expose the young to amore colorful and alluring world, I am inclined to the view that the negative effects of movies and televisions overweigh the positive ones. The foremost reason is that young people are probable to spend bulk of time on watching movies and televisions. This addiction, on the one hand, detrimentally harms their eyes for long-time watching, which easily leads to nearsightedness. On the other hand, the more time consumed on television or movie, the less time for them to concentrate on school work. Hardly can a student who indulges in television all day be devotedto his/her course work, for the reason that most of his time and energy is spent on entertainment through televisions or movies. I'd like to stress a survey carried out by an educational institution, which shows that eight out of ten students see a decrease in academic grade after they watch movies ortelevisions for more than 3 hours a day. For further thinking, if a boy addicts to movies and televisions, leaving study totally unattended, how could he take care of his career in the future? How could he well educate his children if they both watch televisions and movies all day? In addition, the programs on television, and the themes of movies, sometimes are related to violence and salacity. Young children, because of admiration or simply curiosity, may passionate on inimitating the characters in television or movie, including their immoral behavior of lying, cheating, or even fighting. If the character imitated is vicious or violent, if there is no proper guidance, it would undoubtedly contribute to negative effects on young people themselves, their friends, and even the community.Considering the miserable Aurora mass shooting happened on premiere of BatmanIII, the criminal declared himself as the antagonist of the movie. He already internally fell into the movie, and his virtue is also contaminated by the evil character. Such imitation is not just self-entertainment, but seriously becomes a threat to the community. Some people may hold the view that watching televisions and movies brings in knowledge, as well as relax oneself.Admittedly these are positive effects, but reading books can also expand knowledge, and taking exercise is as well a way for relaxation. As reading and sports are not harmful to our eyes, why don't we choose them? Therefore, positive effects of televisions and movies are obviously incomparable to the negative effects stated above. All in all, negative effects of televisions and movies leave deleterious impact on young people, especially the addiction and ill imitation, which more influential to them than positive effects. Moreover, we should pay more attention on controlling these negative effects and guide the young on correct way.
