13.02.08 Virginia Polytenic Institute and State University，申请所有学校中第三场面试。MPS: Molecular Plant Science
6号刚刚进行了Indiana的面试，本想彻底放松几天，过年几天就什么也不想了。和妈看电影打了一晚上游戏，7号上午闲来无事一刷邮箱居然VT的一位华人教授来邮件说在下周二之前想进行面试，让我定一个时间。反正我无论如何不想拖到春节之后了，就说只要春节期都可以。他居然直接发来了skype帐号说现在我给你打过去（囧……），我说今天不方便啦，他说8号上午10点，我OK。

这一天时间也没怎么准备，就是再看了看申请时选择的感兴趣的导师的资料，又熟悉了一下自己的实验。10am Dr.Zhao 准时打了过来。（以下Dr.Zhao用Z表示，我用M表示）

M: Hello, Prof. Zhao.
Z: Hello, ***
M: Nice to meet you.
Z: Nice to meet you, too. Let me firstly introduce my self, blabla...
M: OK, I see.
Z: Now that I've introduced myself, can you introduce yourself?
M: Sure. So may I begin with my undergraduate research experience?
Z: OK~
M: BlaBla... My first research project is to...
Z: I want to know how you knock out this *** gene?
M: OK, the method we took advantage is called homologous double exchange. First, ....; Second, ...; Third, ...;
Z: Very good. So, did you observe the false positives in this experiment?
M: Actually, we utilized a gentamycin resistance gene as well as the high sucrose condition to select the target strain. Blabla...
Z: Good, I know. But the false positives are inevitable.
M: I know, thanks for the advise. I think these false positive strains can be ruled out by using colony PCR.
Z: Excactly. Very good. Did you conducted this part of job on your own?
M: (My role this this research project). So, should I go on with my project?
Z: Yeah~
M: Blabla...
Z: Very good...
M: (Continue to talk about another research project) Bragging...
Z: So are you familiar with the Perl language?
M: Actally, (my role in this project...)
Z: Good...
M: Continued bragging...
Z: Ok, it's very impressive. So can you talk about some other aspects regarding youself, such your life goal?
M: I wanna to become a professor in university, blabla...
Z: So, you want to publish paper on science, nature and cell someday? Hahaha...
M: HA, Yeah, that's my ultmate goal...
Z: So, which research area are you interested in besides plant pathology?
M: 1,2,3...
Z: Good, so please let me to briefly introduce our program to you...
接下来基本上就是这位眉清目秀的教授的独角戏，中心思想就是我们这个program超级牛B，我们要比表面上看上去的还要牛B一些，我们的教授和学生的关系多么多么亲密神马的...差点给我听睡过去。
Z: Ok, so... you can ask me any questions about our program.
于是我问了3个问题：1. PhD毕业要求？2.是否有很多机会参加semiar 3.PhD毕业通常需要的时间 Dr. Zhao一一做了长篇大论的解答。

提问完后Zhao又说他负责本年度整个program中国学生的面试，问我拿到offer了没有啊（木有呢还）。他说今年招10人（汗，好少……），international有一半，中国人很少。又说我的口语very good（我感觉就那样吧……），说我进入最后名单的原因不仅仅因为GRE等成绩，还说比我GRE高的申请人很多（牛人太多了……），还因为我的文书中体现的对科研的浓厚兴趣（欣慰），而且通过本次面试感觉我的英语交流能力很好。总之说了一些很reassuring的东西。

之后我们俩就相互寒暄了一阵子，说了过年好，然后就挂掉了。总时间一共27min，与Penn State那次一样长，只不过这次感觉更轻松一些。

PS. 说来也巧，刚挂掉面试线路，邮箱就多了一封UIC Molecular and Cellular Biology的面试通知，定在了15号，哎，要我如何放肆的过年啊……
