Task1
The lecturer revised the idea presented in the passage that communal online encyclopedias are less valuable due to three important deficiencies.
Firstly, although the passage asserts that a communal online encyclopedia is prone to be wrong due to a lack of academic credentials, the lecturer declares that neither traditional encyclopedias nor online encyclopedias can avoid errors. However, while errors in written encyclopedias may remain for years, errors online can be easily corrected.
Secondly, the worries about false information in the online encyclopedia made by unscrupulous users or hackers are also dissolved in this lecture. According to the lecturer, crucial facts are reliable as they are concluded in a format. Furthermore, the online encyclopedias also have professional editors to monitor these texts and to eliminate corrupt information.
Thirdly, instead of viewing communal encyclopedias the creators of false impression of the reality, the lecturer states that they truly reflect people's interests in reality. Compared to traditional encyclopedias' topics, which are usually judged by scholars, the communal encyclopedias contain a variety of subjects that are contributed by real persons. This is the strongest advantage of the online encyclopedias according to the lecturer.
The lecturer disputed the passage's assertion about communal online encyclopedias in three perspectives as discussed above.


Task2
Abide by technology advancement and social development, we can solve problems using a variety of technological tools and enjoy welfares provided by the society. Compared to previous generations', life today is much easier and more comfortable.
First of all, technology solved a good amount of problems that used to bother our grandparents. The development of transportation, for instance saves both time and energy for us. In the past, people had to spent considerable time on commuting to workplace; nowadays, however, with the help of private cars, public buses and subways, people can just read the newspaper instead of or riding a horse on their way to work. All the vehicles mentioned above are made possible by engines, a revolutionary creation in human history. Evidently, technology benefits human beings by providing advanced tools.
In addition, our horizons are highly broadened by the technology. Individuals today are more capable of processing information around the world. It is human nature that we enjoy getting information and opinions from the outside. Take internet as an example. It enables us to acknowledge and understand some news that happened in a remote corner of the globe. Therefore, our lives are getting more comfortable when our requests for information are fulfilled by the technology.
At last, the established social welfare system offers diverse guarantees that enable us to live a stable and comfortable life. Unlike the last generation who has to entirely depend on themselves, social developments make it possible for individuals to share risks with other members in the society. Retirement insurance, a crucial part of welfare system, makes it unnecessary for workers to worry about their life quality after retirement, as long as they pay taxes in time when they are capable of working. Thus, social developments, especially social welfare system makes our lives more stable and comfortable.
According to the discussion, we can safely draw the conclusion that life is indeed getting better today.
