topic: as people rely more and moreon technologyto solve problems, the abilitiy of human s to think for themselves wil surely deteriorate.
Everyday in the morning, after the alarm clock wake you up, the bathroom will automatically show up in front of your face, and without any movements of yourself, the teeth brush and towel electrically controlled by the mobile remote will do you nicely for the coming day. The breakfast is already served on the table by your robot servant and the dishwasher will do the rest and you do not even have to bother with it. This will probably be the lives that will happen in the future with the rapid speed of technological invention.
This new inventions make our life much convenient than before that our forefather have not ever imagined. But on the other hand, we do depend more and more on them. For example, we need plane when we are traveling abroad, we need mobile phone when we have to call someone from a distance, we need computer when a large database needed to be calculated. Time after time, these technologies became a necessary part for us so people worry about our abilities of thinking will be reduced by such a lifestyle. It may be true that, according to scientific findings, the condition of our brain will go down gradually if we don’t utilize it a lot. With their focus on this aspect, these people may have neglected some important aspects of what technologies have brought to us --- giving more convenience to human’s lives, technology also generate much more new problems for us to solve which require more intelligent if to be resolved.
For the first time when people discovered that we can manufacture tools to help us with everyday works, the enthusiasm of developing more advanced products that can free us from arduous daily jobs has been the main reason of the development of human race. Contrasting of thinking less, the inventors worked day and night to get one step closer to the success. Take Edison for example, he rubbed his head to find the material which can endure the electricity and yield light among more than 400 candidates. His endeavor finally paid off and his invention of light bulb changed the human race forever. Moreover, it was because of the Darwin’s evolution theory which enabled scientists to view this world from a totally new perspective that people finally be aware of the diversity of nature and are now likely to lay more effort before coming up with their conclusion. That is, the more advanced our technology is, the more problems we have to deal with.
In fact, people’s increasing dependence on technology is but a transient phenomenon happening during the long process of human’s utilization of technology. Dating back to the first time of industrial revolution where was the beginning of globalization, the history of modern technology has only more than 200 years. Though our achievement may seems spectacular, we are just on the first phase of road of exploiting nature’s mystery, whereas those new technology inventions may serve us with happiness deprived from curiosity, but after time goes by we will inevitably be bored to those inventions because whether the physical or mental convenience the technology give us, they can not fulfill the abyss of human nature whose perfection requires spiritual meditation only.
Thus, given the contemporary situation in which we are standing, we need to consider more about the effects that technology have given us while we are enjoying the convenience at the same time. Things are always far more complicated than we can ever anticipate. Hence in order to learn more about our society and this ancient planet, we have no excuse of giving up our quest on technological pursuit, instead more truth are awaiting to be revealed.
