A fully funded PhD position in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering within College of Engineering at Wayne State University is available to start in Fall 2020. The potential candidate has the opportunity to work on multiple projects to quantify the impacts of anthropogenic emissions (e.g., air pollutions) on air quality, climate change and human health, using chemical transport models (such as GEOS-Chem and CESM CAM-Chem) in conjunctions with all variety of observations, ranging from surface measurements to aircraft campaigns and satellite observations. Applicants with background in environmental engineering/science, atmospheric science, chemistry, geology, computer science, mathematics, or other related fields are welcome to apply. Previous modeling experiences using chemical transport models and programming skills using Fortran, IDL and/or python are preferred but not required.
