刚刚收到这个学校的admission，University of Kansas,CS。可是没有提到financial support, 是School of Engineering给我发的，告诉我如下：

your application into the graduate program of computer science has been
received and you have been recommended for admission.  However, a financial or

bank statement was not included in your packet of materials.  An I20 cannot be

issued until proof of funding has been established.  Please send this
information to my attention at the below address when available.

这是不是一个很标准的admission，可为什么不是系里面发给我呢？是不是应该和系里面联系联系，争取经济支持阿。各位前辈多给点意见吧，先拜谢了。

打电话问的, 15 个offer 已经发完了, email, 我没有收到 :-(

MIT EECS rejection

just received this afternoon. Paper letter dated Feb. 22. Unlucky applicants in China will receive it soon. It has a hand-written signature.

Dear Mr. XXX

I am truly sorry to inform you that we are not offering you admission to MIT in the department of electrical engineering and computer science.

The number of applicants for admission to the graduate school greatly exceeds the number which can be accommodated and it has been necessary to refuse admission to many fine applicants.

今天和老师谈,说到了系里出去的基本都是女生(我是CS的).男生本科基本没有希望.说是国
外为了调节性别比例....不知道是不是这样啊?每年得Offer得是不是女生明显多哪?

Dear Mr.Wang,

I am pleased to inform you that the Department of Computer Science has
approved your admission to the PhD program with the award of a Teaching
Assistantship, plus a supplementary Fellowship stipend.  This extra stipend
is in recognition of your outstanding academic qualifications.  You will
soon receive official notification of your admission and other pertinent
information from the Graduate Admissions Office.

This is a two-year award, subject to the condition that you perform
satisfactorily academically and as a teaching assistant.  For the (10-month)
academic year 2005/2006, your base salary as a teaching assistant will be
$17,988.  The amount of the additional Fellowship stipend is $3,000, for a
total award of $20,988 for 2005/2006.  Medical coverage is included in your
Teaching Assistantship, as well as tuition remission.

Teaching assistants participate in teaching and administering both
undergraduate and graduate (for advanced students) courses in a variety of
ways.  Many teach recitation sections in support of larger lectures; some
have almost full responsibility for teaching certain undergraduate courses.

We expect that with your strong qualifications, you will be receiving other
good offers.  Although a final answer from you is not required until April
15, it would help us greatly with our planning if you could let us know
before then.  In particular, we request that you give us at least a
preliminary response (positive, negative, not sure) within two weeks of the
date of this letter.  We certainly hope you will be joining us.  Please
email your response to the address given below.  Also, we will be very happy
to answer any additional questions you might have.

I congratulate you on your selection for this award and your excellent
academic record.  We look forward to hearing from you.

通报一下信息

谢谢楼上的信息.所以看来发Offer肯定是按批的.既然第一批的回复期限是三月初,中,那么第二批Offer将在春假过后,也就是3月20日以后发出,国内的应该在4月初收到吧.我联系的几个学校,都是"春假后给答复".不过,确实象楼上说的,不同学校不同专业肯定也会有不同的地方,所以我在题目上加上"参考",只作为给大家的一些信息参考吧.顺便说一句,我现在的学校也是这样发Offer的.这次申请人大约200人,90%都是中国人(其中小部分是在美国的F2转读),系里今年会空缺3个RA,6个TA,但是大部分会被在这里的转读的F2占去(他们在这里申请,熟悉这里情况,肯定有优势,而且有些已经自费在读课程了,就等着下学期拿Offer).我们学校下批Offer会在4月份发出.(我和秘书很熟,所以情况非常了解) 我的学校不是什么好的,100名外的,详细的我就不说了.
就给大家做参考吧.
