Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Getting advice from older friends is more valuable than getting advice from friends at your age. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.（08/17/07）

People seldom agree with others even in such trivial issues as preference to handle with a problem between taking advice from aged friends and other peers. When facing with an obstacle or a dilemma, people expect to get suggestions from older friends’ experience or take a relief due to peers’ comfort. As far as I am concerned, it would be a little bit haste to say that older friends’ advice is better, or vice versa.

On the one hand, older friends’ experience is an abundant fortune for all of us. Thanks to their early trials, we can easily and directly get dos and dons on the certain problem instead of blind zigzag. A particular case to this point is that when I was 7, learning English, I had trouble in my pronunciation. I failed to read an article smoothly because of my bad control of vows. I was so depressed that I turned to my older sister for help. Then a miracle happened. I overcame my problem owing to her few words which was taken by her own experiences. It is older friends’ advice that helps me out of my study problem.

On the other hand, it is also valuable to accept suggestions from friends at our own ages. We share similar feelings with our peer friends. They can fully understand us without any gaps or hesitations because we are thinking by the same way. So it would be far easier for them to allay our confusions and pains. Just imagine that we go shopping with our classmate friends. Owing to our same taste, we can buy our desired goods in a happy and harmony atmosphere getting rid of evitable quarrels.

In conclusion, it is a wise choice to receive advice from both older friends and peer fellows according to different situations. Sometimes we need the older one’s experience to enrich our mind also broaden our horizon for the sake of getting across our difficulties. Sometimes friends at our own age can advice us and share happiness at the same time. Definitely these two kinds of suggestions are helpful and useful. Hence we should balance them and take the full use of these valuable fortunes.
