=========================================
So hard it is that I can't imagine how many languages have been disappeared and how many of them are stand on the boundary the death. But the fact is the fact, many of the lesser-know languages in the world are going to lose forever because of fewer people who can speak. Each language is a special gift that our pro-generations give us. There is no reason why we not receive it and protect it, as well as thrive it if it's possible. The governments of countries where these precise languages are spoken should take measures, with honor and responsibility, to prevent this disappearing tend.
One compelling reason that we should take an action is that language is not only a set of different sound containing meanings, but also a show of the culture, while it, of course, reflects a kind of thoughts. It's obvious that different language arises from different regions, while inevitably different regions have their own culture and custom, which, at least some of them, have been existed for thousands of years. In the university, we can meet many classmates that come from different parts of our country with various accents and dialects. At that time you can know their background, at least their hometown. Meanwhile, in daily life, as living with them, you will find that he or she comes from different place has different custom with you. When you spend a traditional festival, such as QingMin, with them, you will surprise that they have different rites to celebrate the festival, which thanks to different culture.
Another compelling reason lies in the field of society and history research. There is no doubt that people use their own languages, which maybe have their own words and expressing ways, to write and tell what they thought, what they said, and what they had done. All these literal or oral materials are consisted of the history. In general, history is just the thing that tells us what had happened in the past. An illustration can make this point clear. In Tibet, there is a famous historical story about one of their greatest hero, King Gesar. The story has no literal materials but spreads only by the story-teller saying with Tibet Language. Not only in there, but also in many other places, I believe, there are many historical relics passed by their own languages. If we want to know where and how we come to today, we should know these dying languages. People can thrive well as long as they can recognize their future orientation. How can we recognize, the answer is history. How can we read and comprehend our history, the answer is the language.
I even can't imagine that if when the lesser-know languages lost, we speak the seldom remain language. Let's make an assumption. If we can only see seldom kinds of flowers in the garden, what do we think of that? How monotones we will feel. Maybe at that time, indeed, we can only speak in seldom limited language. How horrible we are.
Above all, without doubts, the government should take their responsibility to protect the dying language. It should not only prevent a language to disappear but also survive a thought. Each language has her charming aspects. Protect it, thrive it, and give it to our next generation as what our ancestors give to us. |
