1. Listen to and write Scientific American 60s "Artificial Gravity Slows Muscle Loss"
Red for wrong not; Blue for correction.

"It's time(Would you mind) telling me (what this is) all about it(\), minister(Mister)." No problem, captain. A study in the journal of (applied) Physiology shows that artificial gravity should prevent big problem faced by astronauts should(who) stay with less(weightless) for that experience(extended period). "I know(Are) you a doctor?" Well no, but I know the way of this(weighlessness) problem: muscle DK(decay).

15 healthy men spent 3 weeks lying in bed. Such an activity(inactivity) produces similar muscle lost(losses) as way it lessens(weightlessness). But 8 of the volunteers spring(spun) around that last(in a NASA) centrifuge 30 times a minute for a hour each day. The voice(foreces) produced quick(are equivalent) to stand(ing) out(up in about) 2.5 times normal gravity. The spon(spun) guys can(kept) making leg muscle proteins normally. But muscle production in the unspon(unspun) groups(group was) cut of(\) almost a(in) half.

The study of(has) implications that(for) eldly people here and(on) earth. "I'm 34 years old." Actually (if) today he's(today's) 78 years old Shatner in hospital.(were hospitalized,) he(he'd) quickly lose muscle. But getting build(Bill to) stand (up) of more(and move) just a little each day could help more(him ward off) muscle DK(decay). "What we are doing here? Give me a srong retime our party(Maybe they're throwing us a retirement party). That's so need(That suits me), (I) just bought a boat."

Listen to and write Scientific Americans "Fish Shrink to Beat Heat"
Red for wrong note; Blue for correction

Forget the meek. If the earth keeps getting warmer, a recent study shows that it's the small that can come(are gonna come out) on the top (at least) in recent(the) world's oceans. With global tempretures on the rise, scientist are trying to figue out what a warmer earth would(will) mean for world wide ecosystems. But a qualified(In aquatic) environments, it seems too responsive(two responses) to really(have already) come to(into) play. 1st, species are seeking higher altitudes and latitudes, so they can stay in a comfortance(their comfort zones). 2ed, organisms of(are) shifting key advance(events) in (their) life cycle(s), like (when) Algae no more(bloom or) fish's pond(fish spawn).

Now, researches written(researchers writing) in (the) proceeding of National Academy (of) Sciences have discovered the(a) 3rd rule if you will. They(,that) govern(s) have(how) fish in(and) other ocean weathering quaters(dwelling critters) over thing(are working to) beat the heat. They are shrinking. It makes sound(Makes sense) because the(a) small(er) body means a big(ger) surface area in a(to) body volume, and more efficient in heat something(dumping). The research(ers) would be(reviewed) long-term service(surveys) under(and) the(other) published results. And find(found) that the number of small(er) size(d) species (is) on the rise. Listen to and write the Scientific Americans "TOUCAN: PUT HEAT ON MY BILL"
Red for wrong not; Blue for correction

The toucan's long bill has long perpelexed biologies(biologists). Thousands of theories think(Darwin theorized that) it attracts(ed) mates. Other suggenst(ed) they(\) uses this(\) range(d) from food peering(fruit peeling) to tell toil from fans(terrritorial defense). But a report in (the) July 24th (issue) of Journal Science offers another explanation as to why 1/3 of the bird is all snots(shnoz). The other(authors) of this report (say) that toucan's bill is so big because it acts like radiator strap(ped) to its face. And the(When a) toucan needs to cool down, its big(beak) heats up. They mean the(The immense) surface area of big(the beak) loud(allows) heat (to) quickly dissipate. In fact, the scientists say, the(as a) toucan lowers its body temperature in preparation for sleep. It can cool 10 degree southeast(Celsius) in just a(\) minute(s).

The scientists use(d) infrared demography(thermography) in the same kind of technology used in the heat in(heat-sensing) cameras to observe toucans in(at) different ambient temperatures. With that(When outside) temperature rose, the bill also heated up, but the bird's whole(core) body temperature is(did) not. The scientists speculate that other big billed birds may regulate their body temperatures this way. Since birds don't sweat, having they handed(a handy) their(heat) dissipater and doubt(undoubtedly) keeps their feathers from getting ruffle(d).

1. Shout English out 60 mins;

2. Listen to and write the Scientific Americans "GULF OF MEXICO DEAD ZONE SHRINKS"
Red for wrong not; Blue for correction

A……(At first glance) it seems likes a good news. This summer the size of Gulf (of) Mexico Dead Zone is less than half its proadcasted(forecasted) size, measuring (about) 3000 square miles according to (the) Louisiana univerisity(ies) Marine Consultion(Consortium). Well it might be smaller but unfortunately it's more severe.

Typically dead zones affect water(s) near the ocean floor, but this year this only(the zones) extends up close(r) to the surface. The dense of the(dead zones are) waters that have become so choked of oxygen.(, that) They are unable to surpport ocean life. Masses of(Massive) amounts of fertilized(fertilizer) arounds(runoffs from) agricultural fields. A work(are what) create such hypoxic waters. The fertilized(zer) runoff nurtures(nourishes) Algea, which then feeds microbes that consume lots of oxygen.

Scientists said(say) the current shrinkage (of) this year's of(\) dead zone is due to the short term of weather changes, not (to) any changing(e) in (an) unerlying cause. Unusual weather patterns is your(this year) brought high winds and waves to Algae of life in(in the Atchafalaya) river delta, and may even fuse(have infused) more oxygen into(in the) shallow waters.

The government(gulf) of Mexico and Mississippi river water should(shed) nutrient task force has got(a goal to) reduce the dead zone down to 2000 square miles by 2015. Right now, the 5 of your(-year) average measures is about 6000 square miles. And this is (an) important (area) because government(the Gulf) of Mexico loses 212000 metrical(metric) tons of food due to hypoxic. And it threatens the fishing industry which generated about 2.8 m $ annually.

1. Recite a short article "THE LOSS OF TITANIC"

The great ship, Titanic, sailed for New York from Southampton on April 10th, 1912. She was carrying 1316 passengers and a crew of 891. Even by morden standards, the 46,000 ton Titanic was a colossal ship. At that time, however, she was not only the largist ship that had ever been built, but was regarded as unsinkable, for she had 16 watertight compartments. Even if 2 of these were flooded, she would still be able to float. The tragic sinking of this great liner will always be remembered, for she went down on her first voyage with heavy loss of life.

Four days after setting out, while the Titanic was sailing across the icy water of the North Atlantic, a huge iceberg was suddenly spotted by a lookout. After the alarm had been given, the great ship turned sharply to avoid a direct collision. The Titanic turned just in time, narrowly missing the immense wall of ice which rose 100 feet out of the water beside her. Suddenly, there was a slight trembling sound from below, and the captain went down to see what had happened. The noise had been so faint that no one thought the ship had been damaged. Below, the captain realized to his horror that the Titanic was sinking rapidly, for five of her 16 watertight compartments had already been flooded! The order to abandon the ship was given and hundreds of people plunged into the icy water. As there were not enough lifeboats for everybody, 1,500 lives were lost.

1. Listen and note to the Sicentific Americans "PLASTIC NOT FANTASTIC... IN THE OCEAN"
Red for wrong note; Blue for correction

The great pacific garbage pacadge(patch) may be disappearing and not in a good way. New research presented (at the) by annual(biannual) meeting of American Chemical Society reveals that polystyrene actually can break down (in) seawater.

Polystylrene is probably better known as styraphone(Styrofoam), what(wads of) which could be found in(on) seashore(s) (and) in(\) floating (out to) sea. Most sicentists assume(d) it look(would linger) forever, but apparently when it is supposed sunlike(exposed to sunlight and) rain, styraphene breaks down into (its) constitutions(constituents), most notably three chemicals known to cause cancer.

Japanese chemists find(found) traces of these chemicals in samples of seawater from across the Pacific. They also find(found) bisphenol A or BPA which is another chemicals litters(that leaches) from (some) plastics. BPA has been like(linked to) human health in fact(impacts,) such as heart disease as well as developmental (and) reproducted(tive) disorders in animals.

Of course, these chemicals (are) dilluted almost beyond the(\) detection by the vastness of sea and not all the(\) plastics supposed(are exposed) to strong sunlike(sunlight) want(or warm) waters. But it is clear that (the) millions of tons (of) plastic pollution building up (in) the world's oceans or(are) up to no good.

60-seconds' LISTENNING "HOW ORANGUTANS TRAVERSE TREETOPS"
Red for wrong note; Blue for correction

Why did the orangutans across the forest canopy? Presumably, the reason to tasted food(to reach some tasty fruit). But the better question might be: how did the orangutans across the forest canopy. And according to (a) study published in the proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the answer is something of a surprise.

Large apes (that) spend a lot of time in (the) treetops facing(face) a major challenge of(in) getting (to) their food. How could(can) they maneuver their body of(bulk over those) spindly a(\) little out of most(outermost) branches, which hold all their(the) best food(fruit).Scientists hand put(had predicted that) the best way that they(to) navigate can be(the canopy) would be (to) swing underneath the branches, or quite lower carefully with neez(or to crawl over them carefully with knees and elbows) flexed.

But orantutans have (a) different approach. They like to mixed(mix it) up. Sometimes, they move upright; sometimes horizontally with their limbs fully extended. They avoid repeated(repetive) motions which could make their approaches(perches) sway even more precariously. And they tend to crambel(grab) on to more than one branch at a time. A third of the time they (have) got whole(hold of) more than four at once. Which is good because the apple might not fall far from the tree. But an arangutan does not (want to) fall at all.

NEW EXOPLANET SHOULDN'T EXIST
Red for wrong note; Blue for correction

A planet has been discovered about 325 lightyears away. But what's really interesting is that it shouldn't did(\) exist. The planet is called "WASP 18-b" because it was observed by a project called "WASP",  the wide area search for planets. It has 10 times the mass of Jupiter, and orbits of(its) star in less than one earth day, because it's crazy close to its star only 1.4 million miles. We are 93 million miles from the sun.

Tighter(Tidal) interaction should strech(have streched) of(\) the star and slow the planet, the planet(to the point) when(where) they smashed into each other a long time ago. The research is in the August 27th issue of the Journal Nature.

WASP 18-b is part of the classic(a class of) planets called hot Jupiters, which are thought (to have formed) a great distance from (their) homestar(s) and (then) migrated in word(inward). Researchers say this particular planet has been around for about 1 billion years. We may if(have) caught it death stones(in its death throes.) Or they are unknown factors keeping the star and planet from clinink(colliding). So extra(astro-) physicists intend to give a close(keep a close eye on) WASP 18-b, to other(either) catch (the orbit) decaying, or figure out why it exist(isn't).

"LAUGHING GAS NO LAUGHING MATTER IN ATMOSPHERE"
Red for wrong note; Blue for correction

There is a hole(whole) lot of laughing gas under released(in the atmosphere) these days, but it is no laughing matter. Nitroxide and(Nitrous oxide, or) N2O warf(wafts up) from a neuro(manure) in(and the) chemical fertilizers spread(sprayed) on fields. Industry contributes as well.

Scientists of(at the) National Ocean(Oceanic and) Atomospheric Administration published a new study in Science today confirming that this gas is (chewing) away (at) the ozone layer, as well as contributing to climate change.

In fact, now (that) the world is being(has banded) together to eliminate called floor carbinate(chlorofluoro carbons) and (the) other volatile gases previous(ly) responsible for cabinate disease the whole(carving out the seasonal hole in) ozone layer. Laughing gas is believed c(the lead culprit), according to the researchers.

But(while) we don't much like ozone near(in the air) we breathe, hyperwrite shear(higher up it helps shield) the planet from high energy (ultraviolet) sunshine, which, might(among) other thing(s), can cause skin cancer. And nitroxide(nitrous oxide) also trapcy(traps heat) very well. Over a centry, it has more than 300 times the global warming (potential of) carbon dioxide.

So restraining (the) more than 10 million metrical(metric) tons (of) N2O derived from human activity might be a good idea. How? More (judicious) use (of) fertilizer on fields in(and) capturing N2O when it is produced industrially could reduced laughing gas significantly. Seriously.
