TOPIC: ISSUE51 - "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."

The author thinks that only education specifically designed to meet individual needs and interests of each student can be truly effective, however, I think that such absolute student-centered education has its own negative aspects, and sometimes is impractical, although I concede its importance in inspiring students' interest.

Admittedly, the education mentioned in the author's statement has place great emphasise on meeting students' needs and interests, and is useful for students' development. As the saying goes,"Interest is the best teacher". Commen sense informs us that students will endeavor to perform excellently and fulfill certain purposes well when they are learning what they are interested. Bill Gates is one good supporting example. When he was a sophomore, Bill Gates choosed to drop out from the Harward university and started to do his interest, computer programme. Finally, he succeeded to make the famous Windows operating system which has great of importance to the development of computer. Maybe Bill Gates would also find a good job after graduation, but doing his interest help him to achieve his success more likeiy and quicly. On this aspect, it will never be excessive to emphasize the importance of students' interests.

However, the author ignore the disadvantages and negative influences the specifically designed education may bring about. Firstly, the pursuit of exporing each student's interests and meeting everyone's needs requires educators to spend great energy,time and money to know well each student about their characters and strongpoints and meet their interests. The mission, however, is hard to complete because of the limited number of teachers comparing to that of students. So it is impractical to implement such kind of education, especially for the developed countries that have limited teachers and finance. Moreover, young students' interest is easy to change, so  teachers should not depend on students' interest completely, or else the education would be not well-grounded. For example, it is quite possible that in childhood a boy may keep keen interests about geography and does not like math, then he can choose the subjects about geography only and cancel the math from his list of courses. Possibly as his knowledge and experience accumulate, his interests will become more extensive including physics, computer science and so on. But as he only receives narrow education from early childhood, he would lack some basic knowledge and lose chance to know well-rounded knowledge and go futher to find his real interest. Therefore, meeting students' needs and interests blindly can lead to the lacks of well-rounded knowledge.

Moreover, the true effectiveness of education means not only meeting students' interests and needs but also cultivating students' morality. As the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization says(and I paraphrase)," the ultimate goal of education is to prepare informed, reasonable and intellectual citizens for our society". So cultivating and nuturing students' personality is also an important factor for sound education. Some fields, such as history, anthropology, philosophy and arts, should be introduced to students to help them to understand and appreciate various cultures, values, customs and political ideologies. Only by this way can the future generation cooperate, respect each other and benefit the whole society ultimately. But the students themselves can not konw the necessarity of morality and how to become the qualified person in morality until they are given the relevant education as they are young. So it is the educators's responsibility to plan reasonable and scientific courses to accomplish this goal rather than according to students' interests and needs.

To sum up, the author exaggerate the role of student-centered education. Effective education should be based on the solid and well-rounded foundation that the traditional education can provide. Moreover, besides meeting students' interest, it would be necessary that educators offer some morality education for students to achieve the purpose of effecitve education.

Will education be truly effective when it is specifically designed to meet every individual student’s needs and interests? This question seems to be the one of the most considerable issues in today’s world. In my point of views, to find out the truly effective way for education in this modern society, people need call for a balance between students' needs and interests and the education system.

Interest has no doubt as the most necessary foundation in many study fields. Bill Gates, who is the richest and the most successful person in nowadays, left the Law School of Harvard University when he was nineteen caused by found out the real interest of his life. Gates now successful developed a wide range of computer software and they are been used in every inches of the world. He once said (and I paraphrased): "By putting happiness, honor, success, and wealth in one drawer, I am holding the secret key which is interest for all about them." This example illustrates the point that the position of interest is definitely at a highly significant stage in some fields of the study.

Simply put, without concerning students' needs and interests, education progress might be hardly continued. While an education institution using autocratic teaching style without concerning the individual needs and interests of each student, it possibly will not be the effective way in whole teaching progress, at least, not the helpful one.

On the other hand, pay close attentions for every single student’s needs and interests might be difficult for general education institution. First, the faculties’ time and energy are limited in order to catch every student’s needs and interests. Secondly, even they could find out what their students really want and attracted for, it also hardly to reach the huge amount requires in every study fields. For example, one of my best friends, who is studying organic chemistry in Stanford University at present, he was totally attracted by chemistry while we were both in junior school. However, our school was impossible to offer the particular lab equipments for him at that time. Therefore, to offer specifically designing to meet the individual needs and interests of each student might be a hard work challenge for education institution.

Moreover, not only for education institution, but also for the parents, it is a challenge to meeting the individual needs and interests for the students. As many recent reports, there are plenty parents were catching over attentions for the education for their children. Many of those children were been sending to various different off-school classes in order to develop their "interests" by their parents without concerning real "needs" for the them. Over the aim of specifically designed course for students' needs and interests will become a no-doubting negative effect and needs more attentions in today's society.

Finally, to some extent, specifically designed education course is not likely to apply on a wide range of students. Different students got their different needs and interests; however, the elemental knowledge is always needed here. Further, after graduation of their high school, most of the students might still need educating by general course providers for further career, like various of the universities, the colleges, and the professional institutions existing in nowadays.

In conclusion, without most students’ needs and interests, education cannot truly been effective. Moreover, specifically designing the education, were not possible for every individual student. Therefore, in my point of views, while our form of society is necessary to find out a balance between both students needs and interests and their education progress.

I feel like I'm running out of myself...

There always seems to be conflicts between general and specific education. Talking about this paradox, I totally hold the same view as the statement that only by specifically designing to meet the needs and interests of every individual may education become truly effective itself.

In the first place, the most effective way to meet students’ needs and interests is to design special courses for everyone. As a contrary to generally designed courses, which roughly divide people into several groups regardless of theirs interests and needs, specific education tries to classify students by their like and provide them their favorites. And the results turns out that almost each student is able to cooperate with their soul mates and try to do something he or she is always dreaming of. Then there’s no doubt that they would develop great interests in their subjects.

In the second place, it is people’s needs and interests to certain things that lead them to the study and creation of new things. Generally speaking, the needs and interests are what one requires and what one is always hoping to know; while to satisfy this kind of requirements and hope, people would take every effort to study. There is an example to justify this, I had a good friend in high school, one showed no interests in almost any general subjects, but he was crazy about the Theory of Relative and astronomy. He spent all his time on reading papers, learning relevant knowledge and solving problems. Finally, he got a first prize an astronomy s competition. Now we can see how much power needs and interests had brought to him.

Albert Einstein, a physician that changes human’s time and space view, was only a clerk in a bureau in Berne, when he was working hard on the Theory of Relative. Propelling by the interests on physics and mathematics, he spent nearly all his time on reading and perfecting his theory and was so into it that he almost forgot his only hobby, playing violin. In reward for his hard creationary work, the clerk became one of the greatest scientists in history and succeeded in changing the whole world.

Last but not least, education would become truly effective only when the students have a strong enough will of learning. With great power and motivity, students would be willing to concentrate on what the teacher is talking about and try to think about certain problems suggested by the teacher, hence, the efficiency of education would be maximized. Supposing that students are forced to sit in a classroom and listen to a lecture they completely not willing to be involved in, the first thing they would like to do is more like sleeping and there would be no significance to consider the education truly effective.

To sum up, in order to offer students education that is truly effective, educators have to help them to get to know what they really want and develop the power and motilities of studying, which, radically speaking,  derives from people's initial like or interests; hence, a specially designed education becomes most educators’ best choice. Based on the deduction above, I am completely convinced that education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.

(1)没有任何一种教育能满足每一个人的需求;
(2)教育的效率应该从整个社会的角度衡量;

Facing with fierce competition make people raise much more concern on education than they used to do. As education, generally speaking, has two functions, one is enlighten a person with new knowledge which he never knows, the other is review old thoughts, ideas or beliefs he ever held in the past. it has played a positive role in human history in the long run. However, is it necessary for us to design a kind of education which is fit for everyone’s needs and interests? If it isn’t, is the education effective? The statement reflects on a view of certain people.  Though I appreciate the general point, I remain reserved in some aspects.

First of all, no education, regardless of whatever its kind, can satisfy each one's requires.  As one old saying said: there are none leave in the world identical with another. Insofar as I can see, the principal also applies to human being. That is to say, no person is as same as another. Everyone has his unique character, habit, temper, interest; even identical twins are different in some aspects. As a result, it is impossible to design such education to fulfill the demand.

Secondly, the efficiency of the education should be weighted more from the whole society than a mere individual. Education, defined as a process or activities to impose knowledge, judgment or wisdom from intellectual to ignorance,  has significance both for society and for an individual. For instance, owing to history education, we can inherit valuable virtues from our ancient ancestors and pass the essence to the next generation.  Owing to the spreading of computer technology, we can brow in internet to search useful information at the least expense. All these, in turn, become the impetus to improvement of a society. With the help of education, the modern society gets the rewarding in the form of a dove of high educated men and women. It’s the education that makes human being step from ignorance to intelligence. We can't imagine what the world will be without the education. Consequently,  education is not a way to satisfy the ambition of an individual, it also has social significance, which should be paid more attention to.

Thirdly, I can't deny that education should consider the accepter’s need and interests. The education can be wildly divided into two classes: one is preceded in school, usually consisting of cycle courses and delicate text books. Another is beyond the classroom. As far as the former type education, its function and meaning have been discussed above. The second type, usually get neglected in educational area. Actually, it may be last as long as one's whole life to study after he graduated from school. What’s more important, we are free to learn something we are curious or find it useful for our jobs. Without clinch learning schedule, boring examination, this type of education cater for our own needs and interests.

In sum, education is an instrument for not only an individual but the whole society. Without considering the characteristics of the individual, the society will short of varieties. Without general education, some valuable beliefs passed from the ancestors will be lost in the long run. Unless either aspect has been put in consideration, can our society go any further.

Viking

Speaker asserts that education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student. I do not agree for education has a huge terrain that includes different degree. On certain degrees special designing would be possible while in most other degrees it can be impractical, let along its influence. If we view in the student perspective the assertion is also limited for students are active beings. the influence of education should be considered as a interactive thing between educators and students.

firstly, in some small circumstance for example a family or some art class, education is specially designed indeed. But they can be both effective or not. For each individual is a complex being, so it is to their needs. Even their need is clear to design sensitively is still a tough work for most of the educators. Nowadays there are a lot of children get addicted to internet. If education is specially well designed this would not happen.

Now come in the question of school. In my opinion, it is neither economical nor necessary for school to design different courses cating to different needs of every single student. Each school has certain number of teachers and a larger quantity of students. If the assertion of the author were carried out then how much should teachers work and how little will single student learn.

student can adapted to different education. There two kind of studies suggested by Piaget, a famous psychology in Sweden. One of them is assimilation, in this kind of study student absorb information into their scheme already exist. Another is reconstitution, when the information is not compatible with the scheme that exists, student build new ones to escalate their knowledge system. That is to say student has a more active role in the course of education. Not only the receptor but the distinguished builder of their mind using the brick provided by the same teacher. It will be equally effective to teach different student in the relatively same way in the same time when the education is designed to a group of student.

To conclude, specially designed education is neither practical nor indispensable. Education is more convoluted than unique designing. It involves both side of teaching and learning. further more, as an social action education should be measured in a circumstance with other affair like economy and politics. What we need to do is to search the balance between them not to exaggerate either of them.

The author thinks that only education specifically designed to meet individual needs and interests of each student can be truly effective, however, I think that such absolute student-centered education has its own negative aspects, and sometimes is impractical, although I concede its importance in inspiring students' interest. 。)
Admittedly, the education mentioned in the author's statement has place great emphasise on meeting students' needs and interests, and is useful for students' development. As the saying goes, "Interest is the best teacher". Commen(common) sense informs us that students will endeavor to perform excellently and fulfill certain purposes well when they are learning what they are interested. Bill Gates is one good supporting example.(BG真是个典型的例子,所以我也用了,呵呵) When he was a sophomore, Bill Gates choosed (chose)to drop out from the Harward(Harvard) university and started to do his interest, computer programme. Finally, he succeeded to make the famous Windows operating system which has great of importance to the development of computer. Maybe Bill Gates would also find a good job after graduation, but doing his interest help him to achieve his success more likeiy(likely) and quicly (quickly). On this aspect, it will never be excessive to emphasize the importance of students' interests.

However, the author ignore the disadvantages and negative influences the specifically designed education may bring about. 。?不是自己建立的论点啊)Firstly, the pursuit of exporing (exploring)each student's interests and meeting everyone's needs requires educators to spend great energy, time and money to know well each student about their characters and strongpoints and meet their interests. (同意)The mission, however, is hard to complete because of the limited number of teachers comparing to that of students. So it is impractical to implement such kind of education, especially for the developed countries that have limited teachers and finance. (恩,还有资金问题)Moreover, young students' interest is easy to change, so  teachers should not depend on students' interest completely, or else the education would be not well-grounded.(感觉还是argument的思维在挑错误,不过这点我倒没有想到) For example, it is quite possible that in childhood a boy may keep keen interests about geography and does not like math, then he can choose the subjects about geography only and cancel the math from his list of courses.(例子可以focus on 身边的人,显得更生动) Possibly as his knowledge and experience accumulate, his interests will become more extensive including physics, computer science and so on. But as he only receives narrow education from early childhood, he would lack some basic knowledge and lose chance to know well-rounded knowledge and go futher (further)to find his real interest. Therefore, meeting students' needs and interests blindly can lead to the lacks of well-rounded knowledge.(呼,这段好长)
Moreover, the true effectiveness of education means not only meeting students' interests and needs but also cultivating students' morality. (恩,提出观点)As the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization says(and I paraphrase)," the ultimate goal of education is to prepare informed, reasonable and intellectual citizens for our society". So cultivating and nuturing (nurturing)students' personality is also an important factor for sound education. Some fields, such as history, anthropology, philosophy and arts, should be introduced to students to help them to understand and appreciate various cultures, values, customs and political ideologies. Only by this way can the future generation cooperate, respect each other and benefit the whole society ultimately. But the students themselves can not konw (know)the necessarity (necessary)of morality and how to become the qualified person in morality until they are given the relevant education as they are young. So it is the educators's (教育者?or 受教育者?) responsibility to plan reasonable and scientific courses to accomplish this goal rather than according to students' interests and needs.
To sum up, the author exaggerate the role of student-centered education. Effective education should be based on the solid and well-rounded foundation that the traditional education can provide. Moreover, besides meeting students' interest, it would be necessary that educators offer some morality education for students to achieve the purpose of effecitve (effective)education.

Propelling【propelled】 by the interests on【in非on】 physics and mathematics, he spent nearly all his time on reading and perfecting his theory and was so into【absorbed into】 it that he almost forgot【forget 不好,兴趣怎么会遗忘?应是暂时放弃,put aside要更贴切】 his only hobby【 was too absorbed to…… In reward for his hard creationary work, the clerk became one of the greatest scientists in history and succeeded in changing the whole world 【in physical area】.

Last but not least, education would become truly effective only when the students have a strong enough will of learning【will to learn】. With great power and motivity, students would be willing to concentrate on what the teacher is talking about and try to think about certain problems suggested by the teacher, hence, the efficiency of education would be maximized. Supposing that students are forced to sit in a classroom and listen to a lecture they completely not willing to【前后表达同一个意思时,最好能换一个表达方式,避免重复使用,如:be reluctant to 】 be involved in, the first thing they would like to do is more like sleeping and there would be no significance to consider the education truly effective.【有同感,听无聊的课就是想睡觉there is no other thing they want to do than to sleep】
To sum up, in order to offer students education that is truly effective【offer the students the true effective education】, educators have to【should introduce performances to】 help them to【help sb do sth】 get to know what they really want and develop the power and motilities of studying, which, radically speaking,  derives from people's initial like or interests; hence, a specially designed education becomes most educators’ best choice. Based on the deduction above, I am completely convinced that education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.

1)没有任何一种教育能满足每一个人的需求;
(2)教育的效率应该从整个社会的角度衡量;

这句话和题目的意思有不同 读过去意思是one kind for everyoneIf it isn’t, is the education effective? The statement reflects on on去掉a view of certain people.  Though I appreciate the general point, I remain reserved in some aspects.

First of all, no education, regardless of whatever whatever可以去掉its kind, can satisfy each one's requires.  As one old saying said: there are none leave in the world identical with another. Insofar as I can see, the principalprinciple also applies to human beings. That is to say, no person is as same as another. Everyone has his unique character, habit, temper, interest; even identical twins这是什么说法 要么改成同卵双胞胎 我不会说 嘿嘿 要么就写twins are different in some aspects. As a result, it is impossible to design such education to fulfill the demand.

Secondly, the efficiency of the education should be weightedevaluate ok? more fromincluding the whole society than a mere individual. Education, defined as a process or activities to impose knowledge, judgment or wisdom from intellectual to ignorance,  has significance both for society and for an individual. For instance, owing to history改成形容词 education, we can inherit valuable virtues from our ancient ancestors and pass the essence to the next generation.  Owing to the spreading of computer technology, we can brow in internet to search useful information at the least expense. All these, in turn, become the impetus to improvement of a society. With the help of education, the modern society gets the rewarding in the form of a dove of a dove of 什么意思?查不到high educated men and women.

Without clinch learning schedule, boring examination, this type of education cater forto吧 our own needs and interests.

In sum, education is an instrument for not only an individual but the whole society. Without considering the characteristics of the individual, the society will short of varieties. Without general education, some valuable beliefs passed from the ancestors will be lost in the long run. Unless either aspect has been put in consideration, can our society go any further.
