Many teachers assign homework to students every day. Do you think that daily homework is necessary for students? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.07.1.13

The debate over homework has always been hotly discussed amid annually renewed battles between parents and students over getting it completed. Considering this, we should think over the question thoroughly-- should homework be abolished?

Those who advocate the homework system believe that it is an efficient way to reinforce on what students have learned in class. They set math as an example. A kid who is green at math should practice more on nearly every sort of questions so that he can gain an insight on the general principle which could be applied on all kinds of problems. It is homework that can exercise such a significant impact on a student’s study. Moreover, they indicate that homework is a way distracting children from watching TV or some unnecessary recreations. It can help children stay pure and clean.

However, there are some other voices which contradict homework. They address their reasons as the following respects. Firstly, a child may miss a plenty of natural beauties if he is simply indulged in assignments. Secondly, it is adverse for his eye sights when a kid facing considerable works which are made up with all small characters filled the whole paper. In addition, it may influence not only the sight part, but also psychology areas. To drive home this view, I extend to introduce some professional eyes. Doctor Heller, a family and child psychologist, pointed out that doing homework might fit students’ personality. However, it was unfair for those students who might excel at making personal connections, being creative, or having athletic ability. Generally they were not good fits for the traditional educational model. Homework would be nightmare to them. We should not compel them to finish assignments rather than pave a new way to show their unique capacities.

All in all, I hold the standpoint that homework should be free for students depending on their ability. It would be too haste to say daily homework is necessary for all the students.

However, there are some other voices which contradict homework. They address their reasons as the following respects. Firstly, a child may miss a plenty of natural beauties if he(OR SHE) is simply indulged in(我觉得这里不太通吧,SPENT TO MUCH TIME ON,好理解点) assignments. Secondly, it is adverse for his(OR HER) eye sights(EYESIGHT,我记得是连起来没有S的) when a kid facing considerable works which are made up with(OF) all small characters filled the whole paper. In addition, it may influence not only the sight part, but also (IN?)psychology areas(AREA). To drive home this view, I extend to introduce some professional eyes. Doctor Heller, a family and child psychologist, pointed out that doing homework might fit(我觉的用DISTORT) students’ personality. However, it was unfair for those students who might excel at making personal connections, being creative, or having athletic ability.
