Should governments pay more attention tothe current problems other than future problems? The speaker asserts so. I partly agree with the speaker because most time the immediate problem is usually the mosturgent one and, of course, needs more notice. However, As far as I amconcerned, government without care about future can never lead his people tohappiness.
Admittedly, government needs to concentrateon immediate problems. It is almost impossible for the government to controlboth the present as well as the uncertain future for the fact that the resourceis limited. For instance, every second there are 6 children died of hungerin Africa. In these countries, government needs to solve the hungry crisis inthe first priority, which has direct connection to the significance whygovernment exists. Many immediate problems such as unemployment, poverty willinfluence social stability and sustainable development, thus deservinggovernment’s immediate attention. Only when the government puts its center onthe current problems, can the country become better.
Nevertheless, a government lose the sightof future can cause serious consequence. What you achieve tomorrow depends onwhat you prepared today. Take the environment for example. During the World WarII, a magic medicine called DDT was widely used, it saved thousands of hundredsof lives, and the inventor even got a Noble Prize in reward. However, journalistRachel Carson wrote a book named silence of spring reveals the result thatafter using DDT, many infants were born with disability and people can find DDTeverywhere even in the Arctic. If a government does not havea plan for future, that is disaster would happen. Government needs to be awareof the future problem which might be the result of today’s action.
Another reason why government should focuson the anticipated problems is that human being demands to live for a long timewithout risking the next generation’s development. After the industryrevolution, oil has been extensively utilized. Unfortunately, oil is not inexhaustible.Scientists believe that in order to continue living in the future, human mustchoose sustainable development. We are not alone in the world, we will havesons and grandsons, we cannot enjoy our life at the expend of their future. Itis better for the government to have a plan for the future, it is much possiblefor the government to find the problems earlier and tackle the difficulties somuch better.
In sum, solving the immediate problems iscompatible with solving the anticipated problem. It is not enough to just workon the current problem, Government ought to consider more for the nextgeneration. With the blueprint of future, government can deal with theimmediate problems efficiently and effectively and offer his people a brightfuture. |
