我直接发好了。。。我知道写的很烂。。。不许笑我哦。。。
26The following appeared in a memo from the chairperson of the school board in the town of Saluda.
"For the past five years, Mr. Charles Schade has been the music director at Steel City High School, and during that time the school band from Steel City High has won three regional band competitions. In addition, the quality of the music rehearsal facilities and musical instruments at Steel City High has improved markedly over the past five years. Because of such successes at Steel City High, the Saluda school board should hire Mr. Schade to plan and direct the general music education programs for the entire Saluda school system."

In the argument, the author asssume that we should hire Mr.Schade to plan and derect the general music education programes for the entire Saluda school system. To support his/her argument, the chairperson cites the merit of Mr.Saluda in Steel City High School.Well-reasoned and seemingly logical though at first sight, the argument can hardly stands up to any scritiny for its apparent flaws.
First and foremost, the argument is based on an unreliable assumption that the two high schools are same-at least similar at ever aspect. Failing to inform us any information about the Ateel City High School, however, it is entirely possible that the two scjools are not comparable. For example, perhaps the Steel City’s music level is higher than Saluda’s and the residents, especilly the students are more likely to concern music. Thus, we can not hasty conclude that the case is also available for Saluda.
Furthermore, there is no evdence shoe that the champion and the improvement of musical instruments have necessarily relationship with Mr. Charles. The success of the school band is rely mostly on the members’ effort and their teacher’s cultivation. Also, we don’t know the condition of the school band when Mr. Charle hasn’t undertaken their music educational system. If their school band has been a prominion band for a long time, the fact may provide little-if there is any-support to show the ability of Mr.Charles.
Moreover, the auther’s inference that incentives which were effective in the past will be aso effective in the future rest in the poor assumption that during the last five years, all the condition have remain unchanged. However,it is obviously that the circumstance, the average of student’s level and the evem the atmosphere of the school have changed a lot. Consequently, unless the writer can rule out the fators that may influnce the result, the argument would be unwarranted.
Last but not the least, the chairperson fail to consider other candidate who may also have capabilities to direct and plan the general nusic education programme.Perhaps some other teachers who have worked for Saluda school can be more familiar about the environment of the school and the shortages of the education system.
In conclusion, the argument relies on the certain doubtable assumptions and ill-logical reasoning that lend it to the unreliable stands. To streghten the recommendation, the author should provide the evidence that these two high schools are comparable.Besides, Mr.Charles’s educational and administrative abilities also need to be demonstrated directlly and the author should rule out all the aspects that may change in the future. Only by these methods can we hire Mr.Charles as our director. |
