ISSUE１２７　"Facts are stubborn things. They cannot be altered by our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions."

Do facts can be altered? In my opinion,some facts can be altered, some facts is too difficult for us to alter orimpossible to alter, and to a certain extent , whether　the facts can be altered depend on our abilities.

For some facts that are to describe the　current situation can be altered. Consider the color of ceiling in your house. Supposing　it is blue, there is one fact that the color of ceiling in your house is blue.However , this fact is easy to alter, you can repaint the ceiling into anycolor you like. Or consider the fact that human can never reach the moon whichis true hundreds of years ago. After Apollo Program successfully sent two humans to the moon, that fact got to be wrong. Hundreds of years ago,spacecraft had not been invented, it was true that human can not reach the moon. After the invention of spacecraft, we are able to travel in the space,and going to the moon become feasible. This also illustrate that whether the facts can be altered partly depends on our abilities. Therefore, some facts is able to be altered because the conditions to change the facts are available or can be accessed by effort, and our wishes and inclinations would affect thosefacts.

However, there are some facts that we cannot change. Consider the fact that the earth turns around the sun. It isalmost impossible to change that fact by our wishes or inclinations. Or consider the law of universal gravitation, it is also a fact. No matter how wethink and what we do, it seems impossible to remove the gravitation between anytwo substance, at least it is not feasible now. Perhaps, removing gravitation　would be feasible after we know clearly about the causes of gravitation. Or　perhaps ,human can never remove gravitation between any two substance . Thereby, there are some facts that human cannot change for some reasons. Maybe, thereason would be that human do not know how to change it ,or it costs too much or is too difficult to carry into execution. Andit is likely that some facts can never be altered by humans, and our wishes and　inclinations would not affect those facts.

In sum, we are able to change some facts , while　some facts are too stubborn to alter. To a certain degree, whether the factscan be altered depends on our abilities. Even though there are some facts thatwe can never alter, as technology progresses, we are still able to alter moreand more facts.
