51"Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student

According to the speaker only by catering to every student’s needs and interests can education be effective while I agree that interests and needs are very importanct in the process of learning . However, in my view it is not the primary mission for educators.

Firstly I agree with the speaker that a successful educational seystem should take students’ intrests in to account. As widely acknowledged when meeting the interests the effectiviness of learning could be improved largely. With the great passion that directly comes from the interests students will be well motivated, pay more endeavours to their study and persist in it even when they confront with inevitable obstacles. In contrast if wholly ignore interests and needs the education system will be a failure. Therfore, a student can improve little in a passive education system where the intrests of its students are eliminate.

However, addmitted the importance of interests does not mean that educators should define their mission primarily trying to find the interests of their students and then, just as the speaker claimed , try to fulfill each of them. The fact that having so many students and relatively limited amount of teachers seems impossible, at least for the present mode of education, to design curriculums specifically for each of the student. Clearly, it’s not a effective way for education. Moreover even assume that the goal could be accomplished there are still critical problems with it that is a large part of students themselves do not have the clear idea about what their academic interests are.

So, it is the primary mission for primary schoos to equip students with the general and basic structure of knowledge as well as help them foster their potential interests. In this period of time a student, should be provided with the most fundamental curiculums together, such as the language, mathematics,art and so forth. This pocess is essetial because there are some basic knowledge not only indispensable to form the identification of oneself and society but also essential for pursuing one’s further interests in whichever field. without literacy one can hardly gain knowledge or spread his of her idea effectively. Without basic mathematical ability even an artist will face obstacle in living in society. That is to say the equipment of various field of knowledge is the precondition of finding out one’s interest and better develop it.

After adequate preparation on both academic and practice undergraduate students can choose their specialized field according to their interests and needs. At this level, the education system should endeavour in creating the free circumstance and professional guidance to heop develop their interests. However, it is still impossible to design specific culculums for each student. To make it effective, the university’s education system can insdead offer both culculums that are designed proffessionally for one specific field and various other electives.


In sum, an real effective educational system need not have to intentionally designed to meet every student’s interests and needs ,however, can help discovery and foster the interests as well as fufil students’ need to develop in different ways.
