Faced with newspaper is one of the oldest method broadcasting a nation's background. The vast of people believe that newspaper is the best way of dissemination a country to the world. They claim that newspaper lasts for a long time and still exists presently to exhibit a nation, but people who favor opposite, on the other hand, argue that there are all kinds of methods to display one county. As far as I am concerned, I support the latter. My view will be substantiated by the following discussions.
It's true that newspaper sometimes could tell us both event and trivial things of a country. In the past especially, there was no other media broadcasting top news but newspaper. We could only come to understand another country by viewing the writing and pictures printed on papers at that time. So, newspaper made a contribution to spreading a nation's culture. Nowadays, there are still some famous newspapers such as The New York Times and The Forbes and so forth. A foreign country could reveal itself to all around the world due to newsprint.
However, we can learn about a foreign country by a variety of other methods. Considering media, We can search the Internet Explorer, sit in front of the screen or even scan magazines for further comprehend a foreign country. Besides, having a trip or living in that country could also help us getting quantities of knowledge about that place. For instance, my brother Lee went to Japan studing abroad last year. During that time, he made some Japanese friends. He had learned a lot about Japan by communicating with his friends. Given all above, besides newspaper, there are numerous ways learning a nation.
Moreover, as there are other methods, we cannot make an impetuous
conclusion that newspaper, a kind of printed matter, is the best way of learning another country. By this I mean, if we wanted to get an overall understanding of a country, travelling to this location is a better choice. We can learn its historical culture through visiting the antiquities; we can learn its current life through enjoying the sight of streets, modern building and people's wear; we can learn its future improvement through watching national news.
To sum up, I disagree with the standpoint that newspaper is the best way of learning about a foreign country. I maintain we could better learn a country by other means such as travelling to the foreign country.
