In the statement, the speaker address that it is the artists who present us with works of everlasting value. As far as I am concerned, indeed we, as spectators, have adored and admired those masterpieces in museum, exhibitions, novels and have been stunned during centuries, it is those artists who contribute far more to the enjoyment of human rather than critics, although critic sometimes can inform us about the characters and inner spirit of art that we ordinary people cannot perceive.



It should be recognized that it is those artists who bring us to a whole-new world with special angle and view of the artist himself while insert his or her own point of view or revolutionary spirit in their works. For instance, the painting of the liberty lead the people, which is dedicated to commemorate the July Revolution in France, 1980. The Goddess of liberty in the center of the painting holding the three-colored flag, guide the liberty-longing people marching toward their revolutionary victory. Without doubt, anyone who stands in front of this painting will be stunned by its sacrificing spirit and vigor, thus wants to devote oneself as well into the magnificent movement in the human history. The Symphony No. 9 by one of the greatest musician Beethoven, deeply reveals his struggle and soreness when he at first knew his deafness in consequence that had to stop his frequent visiting at social meetings and concert tours. But on the contrary, for stopping hanging out Beethoven could thus devote himself into his compositions and music life. He put his all heart into those notes on sheets of staffs by inserting his thought about life and love of music. Only by those characterized works of different artists can we perceive the beauty of life and eternal enjoyment of life.



At the same time, critic may plays a role of guiding audience toward a standardized appreciation of art. Those critics may assess the character and meaning concealed in the art piece and reveal to people that may fails to perceive the inside meaning of the art. On one side, critics may be a good guidance to teach and help people find their own taste, while catalogue distinct art pieces to different genres or genuses and to different eras. But on the other hand, critic might set a stereotype to those masterpieces which have distinct characters and ambiguous classification according to those set genres and group. Such as the masterpiece of Shakespear the Hamlet, there's a saying goes "there a thousand versions of Hamlet in a thousand readers." No critics can deny one distinctive opinion on a certain form of art, everyone has his/her own stand of thought and perspective that contains his/her own experience and thoughts of life. Critics can only set up a rule for people which audience may lost themselves in those standards which are quite different from those of them and can hardly form their own point of view on certain art form.



Admittedly, living in an era of information that we are firmly surrounded by bombing news, instant messages, etc., all sorts of information make us feeling lost and cannot find what we are actually looking for. At this time if there stands a critic saying that buying such and such a title book will help you build up a strong character or a movie recently showed in cinema is much more funny and enjoyable than one of the biggest big-buster of a famous director, audience will soon get the point and set out to watch the former one. Therefore, a suitable and guileless critic is definitely needed.



In conclusion, artists are undoubtedly the true origin of art form that could let the spectators to contemplate and perceive beauty, at the same time we cannot deny that the evaluation as well is an indispensable part in the modern society.
