【提纲】论点：我同意作者的观点：社会并没有过多重视智力的培养，智力在现代社会中的地位很高，与此同时，情感等因素也是不能忽略的；

                   2. 但是，与此同时情感的培养也是不能忽略的；
                   3. 人们应该学会平衡智力因素与情感因素的培养；
                   总结：社会既要重视智力的培养，也不能忽略情感的培养，两方面结合才能使得社会有更好的发展；

When it comes to the intellect, most people, including the speaker, would share a belief that society does not value enough on it such as reasoning and other cognitive skills. While I fundamentally agree with the speaker, we should not lose sight of the fact that sensibility play an important role in modern society and what really matters is people should keep those two abilities in balance.

Admittedly, the intellect is indispensable in human society for two reasons. The chief reason is because science is closely bound up with every part in our daily life, food, clothing, housing and transportation under the quickening pace of the technology development. Undoubtedly, the intellect is significant to science in which complex problems are solved. What is more considerable is in today’s society, who masters the most advanced technology accomplishes the success. Microsoft, for example, could earn billions of bucks due to their employees’ intellections. The same is true of construct of national defenses. Common sense informs me that modern warfare usually ended up with the victory of who pick up the latest skills. Another reason is the growing number of people place emphasis on the intellect. To illustrate this point, the detective story is an obvious example. In an authority survey directed by Chinese Academic of Social Science reveals that favor of the detective films has been steadily increasing nearly 40 percent in last decade. This research indicates that people have a great passion for the intellect.

However, intellect could rarely give the similar resonance as emotion could. To be sure, without emotion, we human beings could not differ from those cold machines. Since public are always prefer the one who could affect them by deep heart rather than that one with consistent reasoning, the latter one would more easier to win. From, this example, thus, Society should not overlook the sensibility which still plays a vital role in today’s world.

Furthermore, society should find a balance between intellect and sensibility. An analogy can be drawn with the relation of these two: it is like skeleton and flesh of a body. Logical and rigid, the mental skeleton provides immovable support to the body while the emotional flesh surrounds and fills the body richening it and endowing life to the otherwise numb frame. This analogy is used to point out that each individual should be able to apply reasoning and cognitive ability at work and make better use of sensibility skills to inspire, or just break humdrum in other circumstance.

In a word, despite it is true that society has not stress on intellect, the significance of intellect is on the rise. Besides, the emotional skills should not be ignored in modern life and as a result people should maintain the balance on those two abilities.
