Do all nations should help support the development of a global university aiming to engage students to solve some of the world's most persistent social problems ?It sounds a good idea at the first glance ,but the idea itself promises some problems which cannot be neglected ,and there may be other solutions to those problems .

Admittedly ,the development of a global university works in a few ways ,which can help to solve some serious problems .Students in the global universities coming from different countries with different cultural backgrounds will inevitably present different views toward a certain problem ,which makes it possible for students to consider a problem from a board viewpoint rather than for the sake of one or several countries only .As we know ,World Climate Conference in Copenhagen reached no census with no countries willing to yield .This example illustrates that if we barely consider the approaches on the stand of our own country's profits ,hardly can we sign a deal .Since a global university gives us a chance to think about a problem thoroughly and clearly ,it has no doubts that global will make its difference .

However ,there are drawbacks before the development of a global university in two levels :one is the uneven development among different countries .Since some countries still suffers from hunger and poverty ,they may not pay attention to some persistent social problems .For instance ,Somali ,an African country notorious for its pirates off its coast ,is so poor a country in the world that they even don't care the peace of the world ,let alone the climate change and so forth .Can we persuade them to join us with the development of a global university before they get rid of hunger and poverty ?Absolutely not !The other one is the culture difference which may escalate to a cultural conflict in global university where discussion and debate are highly praised .If so ,it will make things even worse ,just like extinguishing the fire with oil .
Furthermore ,conceding that students have its advantage of talents and enthusiasm ,it is not enough to only bring them to the focus of addressing of persistent social problems .We live in the same planet ,thus ,everyone is responsible to give a hand to solve those problems :politicians gather in the office room of United Nations trying to seek a new policy benefiting the most people ;scientist assemble in the same laboratory discussing which method to choose to solve a serious crisis ;businessmen get together in the same building studying a plan aiming to pull the world economy out of the depression ;students attend the same class learning the knowledge they need to solve the problems they are in face of .This is to say ,it is only though cooperation from people all over the world that we can finally defeat any persistent social problems .
To conclude ,although a global university may work to a extent in which some persistent problems are eventually solved ,however ,indisputably ,the best way is to unite people all over the world ,rather than to leave the burden of addressing those problems to a global university .
