In recent years, there is a heated discussion on which kind of teachers are more effective, the serious or strict teachers, or the humorous and easygoing ones. Some people assert that the former are definitely more effective, arguing students often afraid of serious teachers thus they would work hard to avoid being punished. However, I oppose to this opinion, because good mood and harmonious relationship can motivate students in greater measure.

First of all, as the old going says, "interests are the best teacher", if the students have a great amount of passion on a subject, he or she will spare no efforts to study. And there is no doubt that a humorous and easygoing teacher will motivate the passion and interests of students. Besides, there is unevitable possibility that humorous teachers can make the courses easier to understand and memorize. Take myself as an example, my history teacher in high school is a humorous teacher, he would like play jokes on class to help us remember the tedious historical facts. When he talking about the Napoleon, in order to impress us about his enthusiasm, ambition and his failure causes, he cited the remarks of Josephine and their love story, which left the whole classmates profound and vivid impression. Therefore, humorous teachers are very effective on promoting students' academic ability, since the sense of humor makes the knowledge easier to absorb and encourage the interests of students.

Furthermore, humorous and easygoing teachers are more accessible, students would like treat them as friends instead the didactic teachers, thus they can assist students not only on the academic courses, but also on personal troubles or private issues. For example, the teacher I mentioned above is such a teacher. Because of his humorous and easy going style, he is very popular among students, girls would ask him for advice about future plans, and boys frequently invite him to play basketball together. He builds up a harmonious atmosphere between students and teachers, then he gives suggestions of study methods and requires more efforts on the entrance examination in a way of friends. Thus, all the students are happy though they have to deal with papers piles every day, I cannot say it is really efficient and effective.

To sum up, I prefer a humorous and easy going teacher rather than serious teacher, as the former has positive influence on students.
