7The following appeared in a letter to the editor of the Clearview newspaper.

"In the next mayoral election, residents of Clearview should vote for Ann Green, who is a member of the Good Earth Coalition, rather than for Frank Braun, a member of the Clearview town council, because the current members are not protecting our environment. For example, during the past year the number of factories in Clearview has doubled, air pollution levels have increased, and the local hospital has treated 25 percent more patients with respiratory illnesses. If we elect Ann Green, the environmental problems in Clearview will certainly be solved."

In this argument, the arguer enumerates the example involves the increasing factories, level of air pollution and patients with respiration illnesses, to conclude the current town council members fail to protect environment. Moreover, he deduces that Frank.Braun as a member of the current council will not protect the environment, either. So he calls on the residents to vote for Ann.Green, a member of the good earth coalition, and whom he believes can solve the problem. However, this argument can’t be convincing because it defies simple logic and suffers from several fallacies.


Firstly, the speaker states that the current town council members are not protecting the environment, for the number of factories has doubled, air pollution levels and the patients with respiratory illnesses have increased. However, without enough information about the patients, the kind of increasing factories, and the location of clearview, the accusation may not be strong to believe. For example, it’s possible clearview is on the leeward, which would be influenced by the towns on the windward if its air pollution have augmented, as a result, clearview’s increasing pollution may be caused by other towns not its own. Besides, the increasing patients with respiratory illnesses also can’t verify anything if it fails to illustrate whether they are natives. Maybe just because the patients can spend less and receive the better cure in the clearview’s hospital, so they come here even though they don’t live in the town. In a word, without clarify these factors, the statement fail to make a cause-and-effect relationship among the doubled factories and the increasing levels of air pollution and numbers of patients. It also fails to state that the pollution is increasing.

Secondly, even there exists the pollution in clearview caused by the current town council; the arguer can’t deduce that F.B will not devote to improving the environment just because he is a member of the current town council. Maybe he didn’t own the enough power to fight against the determination about the environment made by his superior, even though he tried to. Without giving his privy attitude to the environment, it fails to state that F.B will cause the same aftermath as the current town council.

Finally, even F.B has the same attitude for the environment as his superior, the speaker can’t conclude that A.G will protect the environment, just he is a member of the good earth coalition. Maybe he will compromise with others for pursuing the economical profits when elected to the council , so that he may change his resolve on protecting the environment and can’t fulfill his promise to improve the environment.

In sum, if the arguer calls on the residents to vote for A.G just for these factors stated above, it fails to persuade me. Without giving the more information about the factories, clearview, and the patients, the speaker can’t verify the current town council does the harm for the local environment. Moreover, the arguer can’t deduce the candidates’ attitudes to environment just because their positions now, he rules out that the current council’s determination maybe not stand for the individual’s, and also neglects the person when be elected may change his prior attitudes when work at the pressure from others. In conclusion, lack of other stronger evidences, the argument fails to be convincing.

增加的工厂可能全是新兴工厂,绿色工厂,完全符合低碳标准,循环使用资源.可能其反而创造了更多税收,使政府有更多资金来改善当地环境.
（2）
当地空气污染水平增加。空气是流动的，全球的污染水平都增加了，政府可能采取了措施，但是无力抵抗全局变化的水平。正如经济危机中，只要一个国家的经济有对外开放，不管其怎样努力减少受经济危机的波及，其多少会受到影响，但是你不能说他没有努力去避免受波及。更有可能是当地处于某一风的下风坡，其上游的城市环保力度不佳，导致其城市的空气受污染。正如一条河流的上游的水被污染了，下游再怎样保护水源，其留下来的水已经被污染了。【这次错误分析蛮好的】
（3）
本身呼吸道病人增多可能不是因为空气污染的原因，比如可能改地是老龄化社会，过去几年有呼吸道的疾病的老人增多。就算是空气污染的原因导致的，由于上一段已经写明吗，其也不一定是政府不保护环境的缘故。

就算承认当地环境恶化是现任政府的原因，无有力证据表明FB无改善现状的能力。可能现任市长不保护环境，但没有任何说明FB不保护环境的证据。可能其一直呼吁环境保护，只是位置不高没有号召力。而且其本身身为政府官员，对于政府事务比较了解，更有领导各部门的能力。
3．
无有力证据表明AG有有改善现状的能力。作为环境组织的成员只能表明他对环境很关注，而政府要解决污染问题，除了关心以外还会有大量具体工作要作。比如协调其他部门，比如对工业生产的了解等等，这些都不是出身就必然能具备的素质。论断没有提供该候选人的这方面资料。

Grounding on the fact that the environment of Clearview do was deteriorated, the arguer deduced that the current government do nothing about protecting the local environment, and suggest residents of Clearview voting for a member of the Good Earth Coalition as the new mayor rather than【个人想法，rather than 是有感情色彩的，比如在 it is sunny outside, he want to stay at home rather than going outside. 感觉后者是相对好点的。而在这里，前文还没有叙述FB的优点呢。直接用instead of就可以吧~~】 voting for a member of the Clearview town coalition【这里是council吧】. However, logic says otherwise.【没理解这句的意思，看来是新用法？解释下吧】
First and foremost【比我的to start with 好点】, it is not sensible to regard the examples in the argument above as convincing evidence to support the arguer’s assertion, each of those examples deserve【deserves】serious consideration for their logic flaws.
Firstly, the figure, which shows that the number of factories in Clearview doubled in the past years, may have no thing 【粗心】to do with the environmental deterioration in Clearview. We are allowed to boldly imagine that most of the new factories are not heavy industry, and they do laid emphasis on protecting environment, obeying the restriction of polluting, recycling their productive materials, what ‘s more, operating at the request of low carbon. Furthermore, they may actually push the work of protecting environment rather than hinder it. 【这句和下句有什么关系吗？甚至说怎么furthermore了？】With a outstanding revenue,【如此注重环境，怎么还能保证outstanding revenue呢？】 more newborn factories just means more taxes of government, that is to say, more funds to protect the local environment. Altogether, the ballooned factories didn’t harm the environment at all but protect it indeed. 【如果你是结尾这个意思，就可以分为绿色工厂和有污染的工厂来讨论，因为绿色工厂没有污染就是你说的第一层意思，而有污染的工厂也会不遗余力的保护环境，就是你的第三层意思。因而那个furthermore是多余的~~~】Secondly, the increase of the air pollution level may not result from the incompetent【无力，如能的。用在这里合适吗？我知道你下文的意思，但这里可以省去的~~~】 government. As a matter of fact, the air pollution level of the whole world has increased for the past years, which means Clearview can do nothing to resist the air pollution brought by the world as a whole. 【下面的例子是很好，但是这里的这句话就有矛盾了，你不保护的原因是全球环境都污染了。你可以写成：which means that even Clearview protect the enviroment efficiency it still hard to resist the pollution brought by the world】We may understand this point well with the case of the global economic crisis. As long as a country opened its economy, no matter how hard its government tried to avoid the severe effects brought by the global slump, it will absolutely be involved in more or less. Then, can we say the government does nothing about getting away from the financial crisis? The answer is definitely no. (我也不知道这儿到底应该是答no还是yes~~~从来搞不清这个语法点~no对的)In addition, considering that the air is floating all the time, the air of Clearview at this moment may be the air of a place thousands miles away for the last hour. If the wind direction is fixed all the year around, Clearview may become the victim of the air pollution in other places.【不可否认下面水污染的例子依然很好，可是这句话有点强词夺理。那么世界上任何一个地方都没有办法测量大气污染啦？应为大气乱飞？那地球空气差说不定是火星吹来的风呢~~开玩笑啦~~】Just as the following case, if the water of the upper river is polluted, the water of the lower river will be undoubtedly polluted. Hence, we need more detail to verify the casual relationship with the increased air pollution level with government’s incompetence.【还是这个词，文中只说明了政府对环境的治理不力，不能说明其无能啊，或者你限定一下是在环境方面~~】Thirdly, there is no proof to attest that the increasing patients with respiratory illnesses are the victims of the air pollution. An area with an aging population may also have more patients with respiratory illnesses, for older’s 【换成the old people’s】poor health condition, and a new planted flower which may cause allergy to pollen will also lead to respiratory illnesses. Moreover, if the environmental pollution was not the fault of current government, just as I explained before, the increased patients also can’t be a good excuse to blame the local government.

Being a member of the Good Earth Coalition just indicated that Ann Green was concerning about the environment, but that virtue can’t promise that she is competent enough to be the mayor. However, being a mayor is more a thing of becoming a generalist rather specialist, 【我也有这个意思，但表达没你好】which requiring a most important characteristics, leadership. You should be familiar with the process within the government, coordinate the entire department to do one certain thing, assure everything is in order. Accordingly, Ann Green may not competent enough. And with no proof to indicate that Frank Braun pay little attention about protecting environment, there lies a possibility that he do tried hard to improve the environment but not powerful enough to realize his aspiration, and once he become the mayor, he will lay more emphasis on environment protection, thus we shouldn’t refuse Frank Braun so arbitrary.【把这段提到前面说就好了】
Watching the argument from the sidelines, I am struck【was srtuck？】by how much it turns on an assertion that ought to be attested by more convincing evidence. Numerous facts had made it clear that to verifying an assertion, a strict experiment is required. Thus the argument would be more favourable if the arguer involves more researches and consideration.

Dose the way people look, dress, and act manifest their attitude and interests? I think the answer is positive. People's behavior, as well as their appearance, does reveal their opinion about things, which, however, cannot exclude other ways through that we can also have a clear view of their values towards things. Thus, some parts of a society's ideas and values, since the spectrum of social ideas and values is too wide to be judged only by people's behavior and appearance, can be indicated by observation, while some other parts is hard to tell only from observation of behavior and appearance.

It is true that one's values and ideas, defined as one's attitude and interests toward things, is revealed by the way he acts or dresses, when it comes to the small parts of one's values. We can know something about one’s opinion about healthy lifestyle by observing how often he or she does exercises. He may possibly lead a healthy life if high frequency of doing exercises is observed. Moreover, we can tell much about one's ideas towards music by the observation of his preference of clothes. Those who wear gothic style clothes is very likely to be a fans of gothic music, in which case he or she may be pessimistic rather than optimistic. These cases can be reasonable enough to reach the justification that some parts of one's values and ideas can be easily revealed by observation. Yet, can this conclusion be applied to the entire spectrum of one's values?

When it comes to the entire spectrum of one's values, observation alone is not enough and diverse measures, such as survey, also can manifest people's values and ideas. Only by measures, such as survey or study, can some personal values and ideas towards things which do not occur in people's daily life be revealed. Consider this case. How can we know someone's attitude towards Boccaccio, the father of renaissance and a famous writer as well, by observation about his behavior? How can we know his ideas about humanism, started since the very advent of renaissance? Thus, further speculation about the conclusion will inform us that individual's behavior and appearance tells much about some parts of one's ideas and values, while other parts remain unknown.

As the society is composed by myriads of individuals, people's values and ideas, to a large extent, determine a society's, which can lead to the conclusion that observation about people's behavior and appearance does help to reveal some parts of social ideas and values while some other parts, when we dig deep about a society's values, remain unknown. Profound values and ideas in a society can not be revealed, as innate deficiency of observation limits itself to people's daily life. Thus, social ideas about things which is common and occur frequently in daily, on the one hand, can be figured out by observation, while social ideas, as well as values, about things, such as things in the field of art which is not usually occur in daily life, can not be figured out by observation.

In sum, as society is composed of myriads of individuals, people's ideas and values is both a pivot and an indispensable indicator of society's. However, the entire spectrum of people's values and ideas cannot be figured out by observation about people's behavior and appearance. Therefore, we can tell something about a society's ideas and values by observation while some parts of a society's values and ideas is revealed in a different way.

这篇文章逻辑清晰，攻击的点都比较正确，只是第一个点中举例比较混乱，可以按顺序一个一个来，或者分解成几个点进行攻击。语言方面大体清楚明了，有些句子感觉有点绕，不够简洁，不过问题不大哈~~继续加油哦 ^^

When meeting someone for the first time, we tend to closely observe his or her dress and act. Through this, we can generally judge him or her to some extent, because the appearance may partly reveal the people's attitudes and interest. However, the statement that people’s appearance and behavior can reveal society’s ideas and values is some what exaggerated.

It is true that we can judge people’s personalities partly from their appearance in some extent. With the personality of scrupulousness, a professor of university is trend to wear austere and clean clothes; a vivacious actress might adorn herself with colorful dressings just like a butterfly; and a prudent worker might choose readymade and inexpensive clothes, which indicates the personality of saving rather than spending. In addition, some young people like print pictures of their idols or things they loved on the T-shirts. In that case, we can easily tell their interests.

We can see from above that the appearance and behavior of people do reveal their attitudes and interests in some respects, however, when it is generalized to a society’s ideas and values, the conclusion seems ridiculous. On one hand, people’s way of look, dress and act is under the influence of many other factors, besides their attitudes and interests. On the other hand, society’s ideas and values are so complicated that mere individuals’ outside behavior can not reveal.

Never judge a book by its cover. Our appearance and behavior are not only determined by our values but also many other factors. For example, students and faculty of some companies are required to wear uniforms. And individuals who work as nurses and waiters are required to be kind and always smile. Moreover, in this era, many of us tend to disguise. Some people might care little about his or her appearance, so their might be rich ones dress simple clothes. It is also possible that a murderer behaves like a gentleman. In those cases, people’s appearance and behavior even can not indicate their personalities truly, let alone their ideas and values.

What’s more, society’s ideas and values is a complex definition which is made up of all individuals’ attitudes towards the entire objective world. How can individuals’ outside behavior reveal such complicated society ideas and values? Most of society values have little relationship with people’s appearance and behavior, such as democracy, freedom, competition, etc. How can we tell people’s inner ideas and values just through their appearance or behavior superficially? It is absurd to say that one holds the value of democracy because of his shirt. Thus, we even can not judge individuals’ ideas and values just through their outside behavior, let along the society’s.

To sum up, people’s appearance and behavior can reveal individuals’ personality in some extent. However, when coming to the ideas and values of a society, which is a complicated definition including all individuals and the entire objective world, we can not tell superficially from one’s appearance, since outside looking are affected by many other factors and most ideas and values have little relationship with our appearance or behavior.

Whether the way people look, dress, and act reveal their attitudes and interests? Whether you can tell much about a society’s ideas and values just by observing the appearance and behavior of its people? Actually, in my analysis, such these things like look, act of people may be limited by the economical and working conditions that they can’t reveal their real attitudes and interests sometimes. Moreover, to learn a society’s ideas and values we have to realize its regime and history rather than just observe the people’s behavior and appearance.

Admittedly, in the democratic country, the way people look, dress, and act sometimes can reveal their own attitudes and interests, and reflect the fashion tendency recently. For example, if one likes wearing the red clothes, we can expect this color is his favorite, and from the prospective of psychology, it may reveal he is an active man. If we recently observe many people talks about the actors or actresses in the movies or tv plays, we can realize what products can cater for the people’s tastes now, to the extent which really can reflect what their real desires.

However, the people look, dress, and act is also influenced by other inevitable objective factors such as economical and working conditions so that it may not reveal their real attitudes and interests all the time. For example, the people live in the poor realms always wear the ragged clothes , for they can’t afford more to buy a new one, while the people in the rich areas may usually dress extravagantly. It’s certainly that this difference is just influenced by their diverse economical environment rather than their particular attitudes and interests. Moreover, the way people act is much attributed to its working condition. To improve their salary or positions, the people have to compromise on the reality. For instance, one doing the sale needs to please even adulate customers to take the products; otherwise he may suffer from the unemployment for its poor sales. In this case, this salesman has to do these things even though against their own attitudes.

As we know what the people look, dress, and act can be limited under some circumstances that fail to reveal their own attitudes and interests. As a consequence, for society is influenced by manifold both subjective and objective essences such as tradition and regime, the people’s appearance and behavior can’t always reflect the society’s ideas and values really and wholly. For example, the people in some despotic country like Cuban may have little freedom to express and act what they want so that their behavior may just only reveal the leader’s value rather than their own. Recently, when the president announced that the perks such as free holiday would be scrapped; there was no pretest against the unfair decision. Maybe from the populace’s reaction, one can reason the assent is a society’s response to the news. In actual, on the contrary, without the freedom of speech and march, the Cubans have to concede it even though the decision is detrimental to their interests. In this case, if we just treat the people’s appearance and behaviors we observe as a society’s idea and value, we may neglect some truth and make an arbitrary judgment.

In sum, the people’s look, dress and act are influenced by many external conditions such as economic and occupation so that their own attitudes and interests may can’t be really revealed. By the same token, a society’s values and ideas can not be observed just by the people’s appearances and behaviors. Under the pressure of some regime, the populace may be against their own to meet the leader’s needs. In a word, no matter to learn an individual’s attitudes and interests or a society’s idea and values, we need to do a depth survey and consider more influential essences to make a fair conclusion.

本篇没按照规定的考试方法实战。
上午看自己已经写过的issue，觉得很挫很凤姐，经过深刻反省认为自己还不能急着用实战的方法写作文，毕竟还有70天，觉得对于自己来说现阶段基础进步是最重要的。所以就写了一份英文作文然后翻译了一下。在翻译的过程中发现自己的英文语句中众多词不达意之处，已经做了初步的修改。但是本人毕竟才疏学浅，还有许多表达和思想存在纰漏。希望改文者用最严厉的态度多多赐教！

I find the speakers dual claim to be spacious on both counts. The claim that the way people look, dress and act can reveals their attitudes and interests, and the second claim that a society's ideas and values can be recognized by observing the appearance and behavior of its people , while appealing in some respects, is over-statement at best, that can be proved by empirical evidence.

Consider the author’s first assertion. I concede that at some circumstances, the appearance and gesture of people can reflect one's real attitudes and interest. ZHOUENLAI, one of the greatest government leader in the contemporary PRA, wore a clothe for thirty years which has been sewed for uncountable times and was abandoned until it could not be sewed any longer. This anecdote unfeigned informs us the extremely economical life attitudes toward ZHOU. When comes to other people, such as Einstein, the typical figure of his “ban boom hair”truthfully reveal that he had dedicated all his attention into physical world that he did not bother his appearance at all. Considering next the fashion industry, we can see that the models and designers are authentically interested in their appearance, their wearing style and such things like that.

However, this assertion does not comprehensively fit for all the people in the world. One’s appearance and gesture and the way they look sometimes illusively throw daylight on one's authentic interests and attitudes. There is the possibility that in order to gain some ends, one utilize appearance and manner to disguise himself. For instance, there is a group of people become extremely wealth relying on treating or legislative violation. Such as Bernard Madoff, who used to be described as the godfather of Wall Street, a brilliant investor, philanthropist, pillar of the community, was recently revealed to be a phony who build a 65 billion dollar PONZY scheme.In every cover he had attended before his reputation destroyed, he smiled in childhood purity, talked along with honest look, dressed himself as typically honorable and successful elite, for which many people estimated him with noble-minded attitudes and distingue interest. Unfortunately, it is such estimating standard that made citizens be treated by him. From which we can easily learn that one cannot be verdict roundly only thought his appearance and the way he looks and the gesture he acts.

Consider next the speaker's claim that you can tell much about the values and ideas of a society by observing the appearance and behavior of its people. As I discussed above, the appearance and act cannot comprehensively reveal the attitudes and interests of people since many people may disguise themselves under faked facts, nor to say that we can get the values and ideas of nowadays society which is extremely complicated by observing such characters towards people.

In spite of the element that people intend to lie, the complication of contemporary society set barriers for people to recognize the values and ideas though observing people. As we all know, in the World War 2, Germen had treasured fanatically fascistic very much under the persuasion of Hitler. However, we cannot tell that the value of the society is equivalent to fascism. Similarly, we also cannot equal the value of germen to love since they had exhibited their strong humanitarianism sprit after the war.

In sum, whether appearance and act can reflect people’s attitudes and interests and society’s value, the case is intricate.
Observing people do help us get some ideas of their habit, values, complexion and etc, but dose do tell us all the truth. If we want to deeply known a society, we have to observe other kind of its character, and discussing depends different circumstances.

然而这个观点不能全面的适用于世界上所有的人和事物。一些时候，人们的表象错误的表现了人们的兴趣和态度。有这样的可能，为了获得某种目的，人们使用外表和方法伪装自己。例如一些人他们通过违法和欺诈行为变得极度富裕。像伯纳德麦道夫，曾经被称为华尔街教父，辉煌的世界性投资者，慈善家，社会栋梁，最近被揭示出来是一个建造了65亿美元之巨庞氏骗局的昌吉大骗子。在他身败名裂之前的每一个访谈中，他脸上带着孩子般纯真的微笑，说话时眼中闪烁着诚实的管会，把他自己打扮成典型的可敬的成功精英形象。正因为此，许多人们把它看成有着高贵兴趣和高尚态度的投资家。但是不幸的是，正是由于人们这种评判标准，人们广泛被他欺骗了。 从这个示例中，我们应该学习到，一个人不能被全面的评估如果光看他的的外表和表现，
我们来看下一点作者的论述。，像上述文章我已讨论过的，由于人们会伪装自己，外貌和表现不能全面的解释一个人的兴趣和态度。更不用说我们可以通过观察获得一个如此复杂现代社会的观点或价值观。
除去人们故意伪装的元素以外，社会的复杂度为人们通过观察社会人物的外貌和表现而认识一个社会的价值观和想法设置了严重的障碍、我们知道，在二战时期，德国民众曾经在希特勒的领导下表现出了强烈的法西斯殖民主义价值观，但是通过对这一时段这一件事的观察，我们并不能说德国这个社会群体的意愿和价值观就是法西斯主义。同时德国民众在战后表现出的强烈的人道主义精神，诚恳的认错态也不能完全证明他们的社会就只存在着仁爱。
总体来说，是否外貌和表现能反映人们的态度和兴趣，还有社会的价值观，情况是非常复杂的。通过观察，我们可以确实可以获得有用的信息，但是这些信息并不会告诉我们所有的真相。如果我们需要深入的了解一个社会，一个人，我们最好同时观察其他们的其他特质，并且具体情况具体分析。

What do you think when a long hair man walking by you side? What identity do you think about his interests? He might be a artiest or a poet. It is the same circumstance that when you talk with a guy who wearing clothes with many holes and dry his hair into blue or some strange colors. In my mind, he must be some fund of poker music or rock and roll. It is familiar for us to judge the people by his or her appearance and in fact, some specific kind of wearing and custom really represent the statues and interests of some people. However, it does not mean that a society ‘s ideas and values only revealed by the outside element, lacking consideration about what hide behind people’s appearance cannot show a overall sight of it.

There comes a concept in physiology that extrinsic is driven by intrinsic factors, holding this, then to analysis the appearance, it is not strange to judge someone by his or his surface. it will never happen that a white-collar works in a office building but put on slippers which not accord with his identity. What’s more, this kind of problems will not happen for that intrinsic of these white-collar has already realized what he should wear. if we take this theory as premise, it is easy to understand why the way people look, dress and act reveals their attitude and interests. Have we ever thought about the question that what will represent our attitude? Although, people will must show their thoughts in association or in their work, but some petty daily action also usher themselves in their subconscious. .

Even though some outside factor can reveal people’s ideas and values, does it mean that when we want to inquiry a society’s ideas and values, the only work need to be done is observing the appearance and behaviors? The answer is definitely no. It comes to another circumstance that a genius mathematician such as Nash, he was fallen into his own world and never care about the outside world. When he walked in the campus when at his young age, his eyesight is languishment and his wearing is not neatly or even dirty. Someone who only pay attention to appearance will equal Nash to a tramp, however, he is a terrific guy just did not care external. People like is not only one, how can we judge them ideas and thoughts from their look? There still exist some other groups of people whose external do not keeping with their internal. As to analysis society’s value all-sided, a complicated survey is essential

As we have already discussed above, the role of people’s outside appearance cannot irrevocable, but tell a society’s ideas and values only through this path is not enough. A society’s value is an objective judgment and opinion about the world and this must be something hidden behind what easily can observed easily. Besides one’s appearance the consideration about people’s living standard and the level of well-being society are both significant. The assertion that only think over what show in the surface is too superficial.

So in the end, what I want to conclude is that as a Chinese old saying that do not judge a book by its surface and it is useful here to the judge a society’s values and ideas only by what you can see as well. What’s more, the combination of more factors will draw a more accurate judge what the values really are.

2．我们可以通过观察人的穿着打扮、行为举止来了解一个社会的价值观。通过观察中国人和西方人不同的日常消费和储蓄行为，我们可以得到两个国家的消费观，进而反应二者的价值观。
3．但是也又不能判断的时候。Subculture让这种存在成为可能。（字数太多了~~懒得写鸟~而且我不知道在这里写亚文化算不算偏题，还是不冒险算鸟~)

Have you ever tried to purposely conceal your own feeling, hide your interests, and obscure your attitude by acting, dressing, and talking through another way? I guess the answer is undoubtedly yes. So the reason why we do such things is that, it is actually the way we look, dress, and act will reveals our real attitudes and interests. And considering a society is consists of numerous people, when we put our emphasis on observing the appearance and behavior of its people, we will always get the access to the society’s ideal and values.

First and foremost, people express their inner feelings, consciously or unconsciously, through their appearance and behavior. In one hand, no matter we want to or not, mean to or not, we do express our thoughts through an unconscious way, such as through our voice, our appearance, and our dress. The hot TV series “Lie to me” , which is a TV series grounding on the research work of Paul Ekman --a psychologist from university of California, has just verified this fact. Paul
is a pioneer in the study of emotions and their relation to facial expressions, according to his researches, the 7% communication of human is through the actual words, while another

93% of what we communicated with others is nonverbal, which includes our tonal voice, our pitch, our posture,
micro expressions on our face, and different gestures that we might use. In the other hand, people will intentionally
convey their attitudes and values through their apparel and behavior. For instance, richer people of upper class will dress correctly, even elaborately and flamboyantly, sit in a limo to attend endless parties, in order to accord with their social status and show their sense of superiority. While people of middle classes will dress relative casually and may just take public transportation when going out, just try to meet some basic needs.
Moreover, musicians and artists are tend to dress more fashionable and forward as a striking contrast to common people, which is just the reflection of their unique mode of thought. Synthesizing the two respects, the statement that people convey themselves through their appearance and behavior is valid.

While the society will no longer called a society if there is no people inside, it is those people within it that of the most significance when we trying to acknowledge it. As a social people, one is growing among the ambience of the ideas and values of its society, keep learning of the proper and unique way to communicate with others, to tell the right from fault, to appreciate beauty form ugly in its own society. Thus, people's appearance and behavior is not only the mirror of their own attitudes and interests, but also a mirror of their society's. To give an example, let take a glance at the value of saving and consumption between US and China.In fact, you don't have to be a zealot to find that Americans always prefer to consume rather than save while Chinese always do the opposite thing. This is not only for the reason that US has a better social security system, though it do count a part, but is because Americans regard money(我觉得写money不好~但是也不晓得要写啥子好~) of less importance comparing to the Chinese. Many Americans don't be afraid of no money in pocket, they have already got used to the pattern of earn-consume-earn model,(这是自己编的~不知道行不行~可能不行吧~), whereas, Chinese always keep a habit of saving, saving for any possible unexpected misfortune, for their children, their parents, and their own. Such a phenomenon is just the reflection of the different values of the two country, for the fact that individualism is the dominant value of US while Chinese will lay more emphasis on their family.

To sum up, I'm willing to give two advises:if you were a confused mother who want to know the real thought of her child, just try to pay more attention to your child's appearance and behavior; and if you were a sociologist who want to well understand the values of a society, just concentrate on observing the appearance and behavior of its people.
