Here is (Here’s)the scientists is happened(think happened),<oh,> about a hundred millionof years ago, there existed a (was this)three-starsystem. The three link(ed) stars were strollingto the galaxy(milking way), but got too close tothe giant black hole of(at) the center. The holeswallowed one of the(those) stars and hurdledthe way(away) the other two. Those two craning(careening) stars marched(merged)to form one superhevin(super-hot)incrediblyfast-moving blue star, which is now on the very outskirts of the norking(milky) way.
And here (is how)thescientist came up with that (dramatic) trail(tale), which they just published in Astrophysical Journalletters.
They discovered what they call it(a) helicopter(hypervelocity)star, which moves 3 times faster than our sun does through the galaxy.According to the new information provided by the hopal(hubble)telescope, the star orbited (originated)deep in(within) the murky(milky)way.
The scientists use(d)the hopal (hubble) to figure out the direction ofthe star’s travels and the distance of the galaxy(galactic)center, along with the stars’ mass, age and speed. It a usual(unusual) attributes give rise to the idea that onestar was swallowed and transferred its momentum to the other two, whichtransformed into a blue superstar, hurdling through the galaxy faster than aspeeding sun.

Here's what scientists think happened all about a hundreds million years ago. There was this three-star system, the three linked stars were strolling through the Miky way(galaxy) but got too close to the giant black hole at the center. The hole swallowed(吞,咽) one of those stars and hurled(猛掷) away  the other two. The two careening stars merged to form one super hot, incredibly fast moving blue star, which it is now on the very outskirts(郊区,外区) of the Miky way.
And here is how scientists came up with that dramatic tale, which they just published in Astrophysicial journal letters
They discovered what they call a hypervelocity star, which moves three times faster than our sun does through the galaxy(星系,银河系). According to new information provided by the Hubble telescope, the star originated deep within the Miky way.
The scientists used the Hubble to figure out the direction of the star's travels and the distends from the galactic center, along with the star's mass, age and speed. Its unusual attributes give rise to the idea that one star was swallowed and transferred its monmentum to the other two. Which transformed into a blue superstar. Hurtling through the galaxy faster than a speeding sun.

It's a restful sound, waves, unless they happen to be submerging the island or coastal plain you call home. A combination of climate change and bad environmental practices like coral mining is now swamping some low-lying lands.

Take the islands off the coast of Panama. These Caribbean
islands regularly find themselves inundated with seawater for days—and some indigenous inhabitants have begun to move to hillsides on the mainland.

New research from the National Center for Atmospheric Research suggests that climate change is already causing even greater sea level rise along the coastlines of the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea, Sri Lanka, Sumatra and Java—coastlines inhabited by hundreds of millions of people. The same climate change is also responsible for falling sea levels around the Seychelles and a potential weakening of the monsoons.

Satellite images and historical photos in other research suggest that some Pacific islands have proven resilient to sea level rise of roughly 17 centimeters over the last century, largely thanks to corals continuing to provide a steady supply of island-building material.

But rising sea levels thanks to global warming is a problem we better be prepared for.

2010/7/27:
People Initially Overestimate Then Later Underestimate Their Abilities sa_d_podcast_100727.mp3 (1.14 MB, 下载次数: 106)

原文本,选中后可见:
Have you ever bought a new electronic device, or tried a newactivity, and then dropped it because you were sure you couldn’tpossibly master it? Well, don’t give up so quickly.

Researchers performed six experiments that involved subjects tryingout new tasks—including drawing an image from looking at its reflectionin a mirror, and learning to type on a new kind of keyboard. Theparticipants were asked how long it would take them to learn the task. They tended to be overconfident and thought they’d do better on thefirst try than they actually did.

Then, after trying, they were asked how quickly they’d become goodat it. But this time they were pessimistic and thought it’d take themlonger to learn than it actually did. The study is in the Journal of Consumer Research.

The findings are relevant because many new consumer goods arequickly tossed aside. It could be because people initially think thattheir fancy new mp3 player will be easy– then after they try, they’resure they’ll never be able to master it. So you will be able to ski—oruse that iPad—later than you expected, but sooner than you think.

Here’s what scientists think happened, oh, about a hundred million years ago. There was this three-star system. The three linked stars were strolling(巡游的,徘徊的) through the Milky Way but got too close to the giant black hole at the center. The hole swallowed one of those stars and hurled(投掷) away the other two. Those two careening(倾斜的) stars merged to form one super-hot, incredibly fast-moving blue star, which is now on the very outskirts of the Milky Way.

And here’s how scientists came up with that dramatic tale, which they just published in Astrophysicial Journal Letters. They discovered what they call a hypervelocity(超高速) star, which moves three times faster than our sun does through the galaxy. According to new information provided by the Hubble telescope, the star originated deep within the Milky Way.

The scientists used the Hubble to figure out the direction of the star’s travels and the distance from the galactic center, along with the star’s mass(质量), age and speed. Its unusual attributes(属性,品性) give rise to the idea that one star was swallowed and transferred its momentum(动力,要素) to the other two, which transformed into a blue superstar. Hurtling(疾驰的,飞速的)
through the galaxy, faster than a speeding sun.
专注就有力量,加油!
