What do you(Whaddya) get when you cross a planet with a comet?Well,HD209458B looks like a (candidate). It's a gas giant planet also called (Osiris). And it's (orbiting) so close to its star that some of its atomsphere gets blown away by the (stellar) wind.(Astronomers) think that may then have a tail like a comet's.

The researchers studied the (odd) object using the (Hubble) space telescope and reported their finding in July 10th (issue of) The astrophysical Journal.

The planet is about 153 light-years from earth and (weighs) a bit less than Jupiter. But its zippy (orbit) is a hundred times closer to its star than Jupiter's is.

The (astronomers) got information about the planet by observing its effect on the star's light when it moved in front of the star from (our point) of  view. They found that most of the gas being driven away from the planet by its star was moving at 22 thousand miles per hour. But don't worry about the planet disappearing (entirely) any time soon. The current best (estimate to)complete the (vaporization):a trillion years.

What you (Whaddya) get when you cross a planet with a comet? Well HD209458B looks like a candidate. This large (It’s a) gas-giant planet also called osairous (Osiris), and it’s < orbiting > so close to a (its) star that some of its atmosphere gets blown away by the staler(stellar) wind. Astronomers think that it may then have a tail like comets (a comet’s). The researchers studied the <odd> object using the Hubble Space Telescope and reported their finding in July 10th issue of < The Astrophysical Journal >. The planet is about a hundred fifty three light-years from Earth with a little bit less than Jupiter (and weighs a bit less than Jupiter). But it’s zippy orbit in (is a ) hundreds of times closer to its star than Jupiter(Jupiter’s is).  Astronomers got the information about the planet by observing its effect on its star’s light when it moved in front of the star from our point of view. They found that most of the gas has been (being) driven away from the planet by its star was moving at 22 thousand miles per hour. But don’t worry about the planet disappearing entirely any time soon. The current best estimate to complete the vaperation (vaporization) a trillion years.

New York Anck (New York Yankees) pitcher Andy Peter (Andy Pettitte) had to leave Sunday’s game against Temper (Tampa) in the third in (inning) because of a strange growing(strained groin). He though (thus) slightly beat the heart (odds). Because his injury happened after the all-star game which was last Tuesday and a new study finds that more than three quarters of the injuries to major leads (league) pitchers during the course of a season occur before the all-star break. The data on baseball injuries was presented the same day as Peter’s early departure( Pettitte’s early departure) at the annual meeting of the American orthopedic (Orthopaedic) society for the sports medicine in providence road island(Rhode Island), which makes sense because that’s < Red Sox > country and most of the <Sox > seem to be on the disabled list. The study looked at all players who were put on the disabled list from 2002 to 2008. Pitchers were 34 percents more likely than nonpitchers to suffer injuries and pitchers accounted for almost 2/3 of all the time spent too hurt to play. Most injures to nonpitchers also happened before the all-star break. Although I wonder if that’s might reflect a greater unwillingness to disabled list a player during the penne(pennant) drive. <Oh,> Peter’s (Pettitte’s) out for at least a month, providing new data for further research.

这两篇错的是不是太多了??

7/22的: Caterpillar's Innards Move Before It Does

原文(选中可见):
Imagine if before you took each step, your guts lurched up into your throat. Well, caterpillars don’t have to imagine—they take such drastic steps every day.

Researchers were interested in how fluids move around inside a caterpillar. So they put one on a treadmill and x rayed it while it walked. Caterpillars move by a wave that starts at the back end of their body and sweeps through each segment until it reaches the head, pushing it forward. The scientists had assumed that the guts were squished or squeezed or wobbled about like a bowl of jello in a moving car.

They were surprised instead to find that the insects move via an integrated, two-stage system in which their guts go forward before their outer body does. So, their innards do slide into their throat, but it’s a controlled glide. The finding was published online in the journal Current Biology.

The researchers describe the way of walking as “unlike any form of legged locomotion previously reported.” The discovery is already being investigated by engineers for possible soft-bodied robots. Because no guts, no glory.

7/23 Superstar Is Remnant of Three-Star System Mangled by Black Hole

原文:[选中可见]
Here’s what scientists think happened, oh, about a hundred million years ago. There was this three-star system. The three linked stars were strolling through the Milky Way but got too close to the giant black hole at the center. The hole swallowed one of those stars and hurled away the other two. Those two careening stars merged to form one super-hot, incredibly fast-moving blue star, which is now on the very outskirts of the Milky Way.
And here’s how scientists came up with that dramatic tale, which they just published in Astrophysicial Journal Letters.
They discovered what they call a hypervelocity star, which moves three times faster than our sun does through the galaxy. According to new information provided by the Hubble telescope, the star originated deep within the Milky Way.
The scientists used the Hubble to figure out the direction of the star’s travels and the distance from the galactic center, along with the star’s mass, age and speed. Its unusual attributes give rise to the idea that one star was swallowed and transferred its momentum to the other two, which transformed into a blue superstar. Hurtling through the galaxy, faster than a speeding sun.

Here's what scientists think happened, oh about a hundred million years ago, there was this three-star system that three linked stars were strolling through the galaxy but got too close to the giant black hole at the center, the hole swallowed one of those stars and hurled away the other two. Those two careening stars merged to form one super hot incredibly fast moving blue star which is now on the very outskirt of the milky way.

And here is how scientists came up with that dramatic tale which is just published in astrophysical journal letters .

They discovered what they call a hyper velosity star, which moves tree times faster than our sun does through the galaxy. According to new information provided by the hubble telescope. The star originated deep within the milky way.

The scientist used the hubble to figure out the direction of the star's travels and distance from the galactic center. Along with the star's mass age and speed, its unusual attributes give rise to the idea that one star was swallowed and  transferred its momentum to the other two, which transformed into a blue super star, hurling through the galaxy, faster than a  speeding sun.

单词
careen -- 倾斜
galactic center -- 银河系
the Milky Way -- 银河
stroll -- 闲荡 散步
这几次总是开头的部分挺不好呢... 奇了怪了
God Bless me!
我想我可以的!是一定可以的!是一定一定不错的!
