ISSUE130 - "How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."
As we all know that the children are the future of our society, that is, what our society would be like is determined by children. So the importance of raising a child in a right way is obvious, however, it is also a big problem to every adult that how to educate and socialize our children. Some gays regard us as
un-well-prepared adults, who have not learned how to raise children to help bring a brighter society. For most of us, I think, we cannot agree with these gays.
Our society improves everyday, and the educated people are far more than the old days. So we should have the confidence that the families in nowadays society are better than in the past days. The parents have more choices of ways to raise their children. So they can find the best way to educate their children. When we draw the time back to the 19th or the 20th century, we can easily find that many famous scientists, heroes and people who have made quite a contribution to the human beings are educated at home by their relatives and their parent's friends. Two of the most famous examples are the Thomas Edison and Madame Curie’s daughter. The Thomas’ parents gave the young Thomas a very ease environment, letting him to do experiment as he like. And what's more, his mother used her action to tell Thomas how to be a kind gentleman. This successful family education made a great inventor who changed the world. While Madame Curie’s daughters were homeschooled at their childhood. The elderly one became a Nobel Price winner while the younger grow to a perfect biography writer. We saw that the educated people did a good job raising their children, so we should have the belief that parents nowadays have that capability to direct their children to a right way.
One thing that no one could deny is that the education develops every second today. So there is no worry about raising children if they have been sent to school. The schools can play a very important role in the growth of a child. The children can learn how to get knowledge or information, what is and how to live a better life, the principle of a man like integrity and cooperation, and many other things to be a thorough social man. The Bill Gates, the Stephen W. Hawking and the Pope John Paul II are the excellent product of the school. Their influence of the world is so significant that every one of us get something useful from them. As if a child is unlucky enough with very bad parents who do not know anything about raising a child, he has the schools to help him. Looking at the maturity of the education of the schools, would you still worry that we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society?
Kant once said that the most valuable things in our sole are the sky with all the star twinkling and the principles of moral in our heart. By the directing of family and the education of school, we can let our offspring to know the spirit of science and the principle of life and let them to make a brighter society.
We cannot ignore that in this problem we are facing many difficulties, for the world is changing so fast that new situations, new problems and new phenomena come. So in some ways, we are still using the old principles to deal with all these changes. Some work, some fail. Our way of raising children should catch up with the rapidly changing world, therefore, not only the adults or families should develop themselves with the developing world, but also the schools. Fortunately, they are! So the problems are there, but if we deal with them carefully, we can raise our children in a good way.
In all, though raising children in a right way is quite difficult, we can make it by the directing of educated parents and families and the education of modern schools. Children are not only the future of our society but our human beings. Raising them to bring a better society has a long rough way to go, we have prepared well. |
