There is no denying that the luxuries and conveniences of contemporary life have made great influence to all of us.However what is the controversial matter of the issue is that whether they actually prevent people from developing into truly strong and independent individuals as the statement alleges.On balance,I deem that the luxuries and conveniences are doing more to improve the degree of our independence rather than to undermine our  strength.
First consider the aspect of the material life,we can not ignore the fact that the luxuries and conveniences of contemporary life do really great favour for us.The evident phenomenon is that they have made people not worried about their subsistence.And what is more important is that the convenience of contemporary life bring about the acceleration of the social efficiency.Thus,people will spare more time to do their own things.Therefore,people can be freed from the daily chorps and thus to acquire more independent individuals.
Next consider the aspect of the mental life,they do really have more or less influences on our personalities of individuals.With the remarkable conveniences brougt about by the increasing science and technology,we are more unable to stand the plain life without technology and science than before.In some case,we really lost ourselves in the great world that is filled with divergent conveniences.For example,what if you can not book the important plane ticket as usual,or what if you can not resevered your table for your appointment,I guess you maybe get crazy!In addition,with easier communication of contemporary life,our thoughts and words will be influenced by others.In most cases, we passively receive all kinds of informations from various field,which subconsciously have great effects on our own ideas and determinations.And even more,the luxuries that others have already attained and show off a lot will bring about our envy.In a word ,the luxuries and conveniences play an evil role in the mental world of our life.
Nevertheless,it is the interior factors rather than the luxuries and conveniences of contemporary life that prevent us from developing into truly strong and independent individuals.Why do some people manage to sustain their critical an independent ideas when faced with the trend of informations that are really difficult to resist?So we can conclude it like this,whether the independence and strength of individuals is prevented or not is determined by our inner personality or the interior factors rather than the luxuries and conveniences.
To sum up, both in material respect an in mental respect,the luxuries an conveniences of contemporary life are absolutely favoured.Perhaps,in some degree,they do really diminish our independence.However,by establishing our own critical thinking type,we can employ the luxuries and conveniences to make our individuals more independent and stronger.
