Undoubtedly being a teacher is one of the most adorable vocation in the world. They accumulate specialized academic knowledge and practice tutoring skills during the college life, resulting great performance in the classroom after graduation from universities. Some people may argue that there is no need for teachers to receive education anymore because they are seemingly just repeating the same content provided by the textbooks. However, since the world is changing at an unprecedented pace, attending training courses periodically will enable teachers to be more excellent and perfect, as well as experienced.


To begin with, everyone virtually needs to learn constantly, not to mention teachers. Keep learning makes teachers wiser, rational and updated. For instance, university teachers majored in medicine, may have been teaching the same kind of knowledge about medicine for years, but as the technology develops, new diseases and novel treatment appears, if the teacher themselves do not learn about updated information, how can they impart the newest knowledge to the students? Let alone some useful information which remarkably benefits their academic research. It is absolutely necessary for teachers to insist learning.

Secondly, apart from the advantages for teachers themselves, attending courses also bring about good points for the teaching process which lead to higher teaching quality while benefit students in the end. Taking educational courses ensures teachers to catch up with the most advanced teaching methods and associated instruments. The PowerPoint, for instance, which is the most popular teaching tools nowadays, if a teacher bears no idea about the use of computer and Microsoft software, how can the teacher shows slides in the class rather than writing on the blackboard? It is undeniable that teachers have to improve themselves with the development of teaching field.

Finally, another advantage of taking courses for teachers can hardly be ignored that the courses offer extraordinary opportunities for teachers to communicate. They can share their considerable teaching experiences about the events happened in the classroom, they are able to ask help for tough issues about students while offers sound advices to those with less experiences. If they can receive so much benefits, why not attend?

In all, teachers keep on exporting nutrition while teaching in the classroom industriously, some efforts are vastly needed to import nutritious value for them. That is to say, all school teachers should be required to take courses to update themselves.

It has been suggested that the portrait come up recently depicted Jane Austen who is a famous writer. The passage offers some supporting ideas about the assumption, but the speaker challenges all of the statements.

First, although Austen's family authorized the portrait as Austen, it was 1882, almost 70 years after Austen's death, which means that none of her existing relatives might have seen her and can hardly know what she looks like for sure.

Secondly, as the passages states, the Cassandra sketch is similar to the portrait, however, the girl in the portrait could also be one of the female members in Austen's family because they can be resemble to each other, while Austen's family was a big family with numbers of female distant relatives.

Finally, only the style of the portrait can be connected with Ozias Hunmphrey, the possible painter of the portrait. As a matter of fact, the canvas of the paint was sold by William and he said that he had never sold the canvas in London till 1,802. In 1,802, Austen was 27 years old, older than the girl depicted in the portrait.

Consequently, according to the speaker, the evidences provided by the passage is not convincing at all, it's hard to prove the authority of the portrait while being questionable.

If parents want their children to do well at school, they should limit the time their children spend on watching TV.

According to a recent survey, people spend average more than two hours watching TV every day, the average time spend on TV of children is even higher. It causes many parents begin to consider about the time control of their children, but some parents oppose this idea because they want to set their children free. However, from my point of view, I am convinced that it is virtually necessary  for parents to limit the time their children spend on TV because spending too much time on TV would surely influence their performances at school.


First, the more time they spend at TV, the fewer time they can use to study resulting in poorer grades. High school students, for example, may have 4 hours after school, if he spend 3.5 hours on TV, only 0.5 hours left to schoolwork. Within half hour, one can hardly finish homework, not to mention review new knowledge as well as do some extra academic research. On the contrary, if they spend only one hour on TV, three hours can be used for both academic pursuit and homework. Students who spend more time on school work are more likely to achieve success at school.


Secondly, too much adverse content are accessible nowadays which negatively puts impact on the children. For instance, many youngsters in the movies use drugs. Children at young age tend to imitate their contemporaries without thinking about the consequences. As a result, some of them may become to use drug as well because they have watched TV too much and thus believe it is common and popular for students to use drugs. In this case, if parents have known that watching too much TV will bring their children to using drugs, they would certainly not let them do it that way. Students using drugs may be dismissed from the school, let alone great performance at school.


Finally, watching too much TV might lead to drastic changes in children's characteristic. Those who once are very open and optimistic might become pessimistic and like to be alone. Since most of their spare time was spent with TV, not others, they do not like to talk to others anymore. When they go back to school, they tend to be with the sense of dismay. In some extremes cases, this may cause mental disease. Heavily addicted on TV may not only influence children's social network at school but also affect their mental healthy which should be paid  considerable attention.


In all, parents should not let their children watch TV as long as they wish. Appropriate intervene will never do harm but helpful to the children.

The passage gives  some viewpoints about gradually poor support for literature reading today. The speaker challenge these views from all three aspects.

First, not only does literature encourages people. Other kinds of books, like science books as well as other high quality reading materials, tend to stimulate creative ideas too.

Secondly, unlike the statement in the passage that if people do not read literature they will spend time on less cultural issues, the speaker opposes this opinion by providing two excellent examples, music and movie. People listening to concerts and watch great movies also enjoy high level of culture.

Finally, it is supposed in the passage that the readers are to be blamed for reading less literature which the speaker does not agree with. The speaker insists that it is the author who should be blamed because some of their works are too hard to be understood, much more difficult than their counterpart decades ago.

Do you agree or disagree, the best way for parents to teach children the resposibility is to let them have an animal.

Among all the concerns of education, most parents care about how to enable their children grow up with full of responsibility. Some people suggest that parents should send them abroad, which is very prevalent nowadays, to train their responsibility as well as independence. Others may say the opportunity for children to bring up an animal ensures children's sense of responsibility to the largest extent. However, I insist that keeping an animal as a pet, as a matter of fact, will do harm to children's responsibility for several reasons.

First, focus on pet will distract children from school work and other aspect of life. Since too much energy and time has to be spent on the animal, less energy and time is left for other things like study. Senior high school student, for example, has average four hours every day after school. Because he has to take care of the pet, maybe only one hour is left for homework, not to mention extra academic science research. Therefore, keeping a pet might become an excuse for homework and house work, children may become unwilling to be responsible for other things except getting along with pets.

Secondly, some children keep an animal as a short-term interest, when they become tired with the pets, they even dispose the animals into the street which is absolutely an irresponsible behavior. Many children ask for pets because of act on impulse, they have not realized that keeping a pet is virtually so much annoying before making decision to possess. As a result, plenty of pets are going around on the road homelessly which is commonly seen today. Although parents intend to help the children become more responsible through pets, it may do the exact opposite impact on children, leading them to be irresponsible in the end.

Finally, as most animals live much shorter than human beings, the death of pets can cause afterwards irresponsibility. It is undeniable that pet owners and the pets will rely on each other after a long period of time. However, the average life span of ordinary pet is less than ten years, which means that most pet owners have to experience the death of their pets. In some cases,  after the death of their deep loved ones, the owners grow into animal abusers because once they see the animal, it reminds them their previous pets and sad mood. Few animal owners are willing to keep another pet after the death. In short, when the pets die, the owner tend to keep no animal again and most of them seemed rather cold.

In all, keeping an animal may seem like a delightful thing for children, but it indeed do nothing but harm to children's responsibility. I can hardly agree with the idea that it is the best way for children to become responsible.

The number of sea otter has dropped in certain places of America. It has been supposed that two possible reasons may account for this phenomenon: Environmental pollution and predation. The ideas proposed in the reading passage argue that the pollution is the main reason while the speaker supports the latter point.

First, the speaker states that the pollution theory is weakened by the fact that seldom dead body of sea otters has been found in the sea shore which, meanwhile, favors the idea that because of the attack by predators, none of sea otters has been washed up on shore.

Secondly, the decline of other sea mammals is not so convincing because it is the human hunter who should be responsible for the decrease of whales, as a result, predators like orca has to eat sea otters instead, as well as other kind of sea animals.

Finally, according to the speaker, the diminish of sea otter can be better explained by the predation theory. Since the accessibility of sea food location is pretty important, predators like orca have to obtain food, which is mainly sea otter, in the deep sea without too much rocks. This can well explain why the sea otter in the shallow and rocky places have not be influenced considerably.

People should get the secure job right away or wait for a more satisfying job.


Generally, people care about three key elements when considering about the choice of job: interest, salary and working condition. Some people argue that it is not only difficult but also almost impossible to find such a job that meet all those requirements. Such people favor the idea that people have better obtain a secure job right away rather than waiting for the best choice. However, since career is undoubtedly one of the most crucial part of people's life, I insist that it is better to wait for the right job.


First, if only people like the job can they perform better with enthusiasm. Like the old saying goes, interest is the best teacher. With the most favorable job, people can devote themselves to the work and thus gain happiness in their career pursuit. According to a recent investigation, people who like their jobs are more likely to get the promotion. What's more, it is hard to imagine that people work long hours while they did not like the job at all. A job meet with the employee's interest deserve waiting, although sometimes it can hardly get access to immediately.


Secondly, another influential aspect of a good job is the salary. People who worry about the total loss of income may choose to accept a job with normal pay, which is only a bit higher than the minimum wage in some cases. However, they ignore the fact that long time waiting possibly dose not equal with loss of money, it may even bring about more decent pay. A man who hurry to find a job may gat the salary of RMB 3,000 every month now, but he is capable of earning RMB 5,000 virtually. The long-turn income certainly much outweighs the loss during the waiting period. In addition, people have to know about themselves objectively with sensible self-confidence at first. Waiting  for a decent pay job does not always mean failure in the ability of earning money.


Finally, people have take the working conditions into account as well which play important role when making the decision about jobs. For instance, working location. If people have to commute four hours a day or may have a considerable proportion of business trip every month, it would influence their daily life and even health. If people accept the job at the sacrifice of family happiness and health, they are not making the rational decision just because they want to get a job as soon as possible. On the contrary, if they wait for a few weeks or even months, they may get a better job nearby.


In all, apart from the points mentioned above, too much aspects have to be taken into account when choose a job, which one is the best depends on circumstances, but good job opportunities really deserve waiting and they will surely bring about surprise rather than endless regret.

Students hardly drop out of school because of lack of money nowadays. Parents even pay for the research facilities for their children, enabling them to perform better in the academic research, not to mention computers which ensures study efficiency for students. Maybe in the past, parents wanted to supply the best for their children but they failed to afford it, which seems absolutely impossible now.


In all, parents today are more brilliant because of higher education, they know the advantages of what education can bring about and thus they devote themselves more to the education of their children.

Should people be optimistic or keep feeling lost ever since the failure is of great importance because the attitude one chooses largely decides the future.


To begin with, being optimistic brings about self-confidence and motivation that drive people to proceed. When people failed once, they had better adjust themselves as soon as possible and then analyze the reasons, to be well prepared for the next try. Life is full of trying. If only people dare to try can they obtain more chanced for success. Thomas Edison, who is the inventor of electric light, for instance, if he gave up after several times of failure, it may end up with century's darkness for human beings which is unimaginable. Because of his optimistic spirit towards the experiments, he could finally brought about brightness to the whole world. No matter what happens, no matter how many times people fail, being optimistic is the prerequisite for the coming success.

Obviously, teamwork is a more efficient way of working rather than team members working separately. In a team, people always work together on the same project with the purpose to meet the deadline or even in advance in which the leader often play a crucial role in decision making. Some people claim that it is the leader's responsibility to make decision regardless of the opinions of members. However, from my point of view, the taking part in decision making process will improve the efficiency and thus it is necessary for leaders to ensure that the members of the team feel the sense of participation.

To begin with, team members, along with the leader, work together on the decision largely increase the efficiency. For instance, facing with ordinary problems, the leader can collect opinions and ideas from every one and finally make the decision which is the most sensible and rational. It does not only save time for the manager but also enable the manager to learn about more aspects of the problem. For instance, some people may argue about the newly proposed program, participation in the decision making allows the manager to know the reasons and details of the drawbacks about the previous plan and make adjustment. As a result, the team work in a efficient way with fewer mistakes and finish the tasks in advance.

Secondly, team members will be motivated by offering them the chance to help make decision. When team member feel that they have contributed to the team, they will work more actively and will perform better afterwards. For example, college students, in the team work when working in a term paper case, the leader has to choose the topic of the paper. If the leader makes the decision without caring about what others think, those who are not interested in the topic might be pessimistic about the work. On the contrary, if all of the members make the decision together and agree with the topic, they will work as a whole leading to better result.

Finally, the leader win more support from the team if he takes the members' advices into consideration while making decisions. The leader's acceptance of the members' opinions means agreement and appreciation. As a result, team member will cooperate with the leader better when working in a team. It would be disastrous if the members are not convinced of the leader all the time, resulting in more conflicts and low efficiency. Leaders alone can hardly finish the tasks without the support from team members.

In all, since team members play an important role in the team. Wise leaders will constantly care about their ideas and feelings, which does no harm but higher efficiency to the team.
