The reading passage indicates three main drawbacks of communal online encyclopedias, compared with triditional encyclopedias. However, the speaker is convinced that the advantages of online encyclopedia much outweighs those drawbacks.

First, errors are unavoidable and they are more likely to be noticed and then corrected when encyclopedias are online, while the mistakes in the triditional encyclopedia may remain decades.

Second, according to the speaker, they are several techniques to prevent communal online encyclopedia from hacking. For example, some accurate format is unavailable to be edited which ensures the reliability of the information. In addition, some special editors are responsible for the mornitor of the changes.

Finally, referring to what is worth knowing about, because the space of the triditional encyclopedia is pretty limited, the author team has to choose and decide which is the most important rather than which is the most interested for readers. However, the opposit is true for online encyclopedia, that is to say, the online space is sufficient which ensures the diversity of the topics for users. They can enjoy a wild range of knowledge that they are greatly interested in from the online encyclopedia, which is the strongest advantage of the online encyclopedia.

Obviously, people today are living in a world full of intense competetion which is almost anywhere. Mechants have to outcompete their opponants to win crucial customers in order to gain maximum profits, students have to perform better than their classmates to gain the opportunity to attend colleges. Some people claim that once competetion occurs among friends, it would positively influence the friendship. However, I am convinced that, quite the opposite, the competition would benefit the relationships among friends because of follwing reasons.

First, competetion offers more topics for friends, promoting the intimacy which enables the friends to become closer. Students who are preparing the SAT exam, for example, are competing with each other while learning about the same knowledge as well as facing the same problems sometimes. In this case, they can discuss the learning issues together resulting helping each other indeed. Actually, people would wish their sincere friends to perform their best in the competition.

Secondly, competetion with friends provides motivations for people. Once they notice their friends are working so hard, they would devote themselves as well to make progress and achievements. Take my personal experience for example, Amelie, one of my best friends in college, used to compete for the scholarship with me almost every semester. She worked so hard which always reminded me to work even harder to catch up with her and even outcompete her. No matter who won the award at the end, we were still best friends and became closer because of the competition. Therefore, motivation is good for personal improvement which does no harm but benefit for the friendship.

Finally, people are supplied exellent chances to learn from competitors, especially when they are friends. As in the competition, everyone strives to do better than others, and observes other people's work, with the purpose to dig out the reasons of higher efficiency and extraordinary outcomes during which course people themselves are improved. When cometitors are friends, they would be more likely to share their peosonally experiences and figure out key elements for their own success which are considerably helpful. It is undeniable that such actions will surely enhance the friendships among people.

In all, competetion has no way to become the obstacle of friendship development. People will get not only personal development but also closer relationship with their friends, because they are always motivated, receiving sincere help and intemacy during the competetion. There is no need for people to worry that the competetion will place adverse impact on friends.

The speaker insists that the statements given by the passage are not so convincing. He challenges all of them.

First, according to the passage, the "great houses" might be used for living because they looked like the ones discovered in New Mexico where residents lived for years in the past. However, the speaker points out that the outside of the Chaco structures may seem like residential, in fact, the inside of the building offers the evidence that it could be hardly possible because of lack of fire places. In one of the largest house, the fire place can only afford near 10 families where hundreds of people could live.

Secondly, the speaker raises doubt about the storing usage. If the great buildings were for storage, why seldom large maize container were excavated? Since if the Chaco people stored large amount of maize there, there should be plenty of big containers remained.

Finally, it is supposed in the passage that the structures might be used as ritual places. The speaker is convinced that this opinion cannot be supported well by the evidence, because if the buildings were use for ceremony, there should be more building materials other than pots, such as sand and stone. Not to mention that the pots could be the remains of construction workers.

Nowadays, it is a common phenomenon that college and university professors are usually pursuing part-time jobs at teaching due to low salaries. Some may teach at more than one universities, others choose to work for other organizations such as research center meanwhile. As they have to spend time and energy on those are not associated with education, such distractions would influence their performance in the colleges more or less. Therefore, the best solution to ensure them to focus on education is to improve their annual income teaching in colleges and universities which is a considerably efficient kind of incentive.

To begin with, full time job with higher pay allows more time to spend on academic research. Since the professors do not need to worry about the income any more, they can easily focus on academic pursuit. The advantages of progressive research outcome in universities are apparent. Remarkable research programs promote the university's reputation, attracting brilliant students. With smarter students, it would be much easier for universities to improve education quality directly.

Secondly, higher concentration of professors on the class becomes available resulting from the raise of salary. During the past time, professors may have only one hour a day to prepare the class because their time have to be saved for other kind of work to earn money, not to mention the time spend on students' papers. However, if decent pay is achieved, professors may have plenty of time to devote themselves to teaching, from the preparation to after class discussion, which are of great importance to enhance the quality of teaching.

Finally, thanks to higher pay, professors may become more positive and optimistic on tutoring students. Apart from teaching in the classrooms, the communication with students during office hour is also crucial for teaching. The delightful and active mood enables the professor to talk with students more patiently and deeply. Students can be greatly inspired from the talk and thus perform better in both the exam and research work.

In all, only if the professors are satisfied with the payment, they can better commit themselves to teaching leading to higher education quality. It is absolutely for colleges and universities to increase the salary of professors.

It is undeniable that education is of great importance no matter during which period people live. In the long past, the noble hired private teachers to tutor their children, whereas nowadays parents are willing to do almost whatever they can to support the children's education. However, unlike the past, it is much easier for people today to receive education because of advanced technology, well educated parents as well as educational environment.

To begin with, modern education has developed to the point that almost everyone is accessible to education which is absolutely impossible for those who lived in the past. For instance, during the past, the poor who lived in the remote village did not attend school because it was too far and unaffordable as well. On the contrary, thanks to the advent of computer and the internet, people can get access to learning wherever they are and whenever they want. For instance, students can take online courses about astronomy at home in the deep night. Besides, apart from the computer, other facilities such as sophisticated telescopes enable people to pursue academic research in a more convenient way. It is not an exaggeration to say that if only they want, people today can be educated as easily as possible.

What's more, parents are better educated than their counterparts living decades ago. Most of them graduated from colleges and universities, it is a piece of cake for them to teach basic science to their children at home, which means they can perfectly assisted in the education of their children. Parents in the past often were skillful at a certain field such as carpenters, unlike craftsman, parents nowadays even master more than two foreign languages. For example, most children in China can speak English at the age of five due to the daily conversation with their parents in the second language which is definitely unachievable long ago.

Finally, the educational environment also plays a significant role in the easier availability of education. As the social develops, the attitude towards education changes considerably. People tended to drop out of school owing to various reasons, however, it seldom happens today. Governments allow larger proportion of financial support to education, charity organizations offers numerous amount of money to support the poor who cannot afford tuition fees. Also, various educational programs in the university are extremely attractive with highly progressive equipments and resources. The list will go on. In the main, education is much more achievable compared with the situation in the past.

In all, people pay highly attention on education all the time and it is especially apparent today. Because of the social development, people nowadays are enjoying better education environment resulting in further thriving in the future.
