I agree with the speaker’s broad assertion that when other fields of study bring in their knowledge and experience, the field of study can advance significantly, though it is obvious how specialization carries advantages in many ways. Primarily because his contention accords with the belief we share that isolation results in stagnation, and interdependence and inherent connection among various disciplines bring out novel creativities and more complete consideration.
To begin with, with the tendency of transdiscipliary, it seems more strenuous to breakthrough only depend on one field. Without other realm of knowledge and experience, the limits of the predominant idea in one specific field of study can possibly give rise to the stagnation and hamper the further study. Transdisciplinary becomes more and more critical when faced with complex and perplexed problem. For example, when it comes to aeronautics, this significant breakthrough involves many fields of other disciplines including mechanics knowledge, mathematics, the computer science, etc. another apt illustration is about the field of economics. Without supporting advances in calculus, the field of economics would never have seen the prosperous development of is last 20 years. The field of mathematics helped convert economics from a qualitative, speculative field to a quantitative, definitive one. Thus, we can see clearly the magnitude of transdisciplinary, especially in modern studies which require further collaboration for continued progress and success.
Moreover, the inclusion of varied fields to study provide all-sided consideration, thus bring out greater insight and comprehension. transdiscipliary also prevents the unmitigated influence of one predominant idea that may in fact be untrue either in the current or previous context. Besides, some problems which are complicated and intricate or sophisticated in a specific field may get creativity to solve them from another field of study. When it comes to architecture, a lot of insuperable problem of structure finally solved by interconnect with biology. The specific architecture get significant breakthroughs via analyzing stable construction in the nature. It is obvious that inclusion of various have great advantages to help a specific field break though.
Admittedly, academic specialization is very indispensable, for providing the basement for our further study. Specialization is needed in order to increase the depth of what is being studied. Moreover, it plays a fundamental role to make a specific field of study further develop interconnecting with other fields. However, transdiciplinary can magnify the width of the specific field of study.
