The speaker put emphasis on the degree of how children are socialized today. Admittedly, children standing for the next generation who sooner or later will be the administers, constructors or policy makers master the direction of the future world. There's no doubt that how children are socialized is
definately an important issue worth thinking about. However, while this claim seems plausible in the abstract, it ignores several pratical problems.
First, it is too early to assert that children who are still not fully socialized today will surely bring about a social destiny which everyone is not willing to see. From the beginning of human history, there has never been a person socialized enough to adapt to the complex environment since he is a little child. The process of being socialized needs education, practice, which, both needs time. Moreover, the current administers can still construct our sociaty effectively and instruct civics to a relatively proper direction. We can say there's long enough time for the children to be mature and socialized to decide the destiny of the human sociaty.
The second reason why I hold such a viewpoint is that the world is diversed, so is the character of human beings. The degree of socialization varies from person to person. It is impossible and unnecessary to hold the prospect that every child become socialized adequately. Take the special phenomenon for example. As we all know a considerable amount of people with great achievements, especially in the field of philosophy and science, is not so socialized all through their life, or we can call them dissocial in some degree. Nevertheless, this group of people made great contribution to the human history in various aspects. So how could anyone say they impede the development of society? Of course not.
Further more, although the definition of a better society is distinct for different value system, the final destination is to create a more harmonious community. The basic value criteria determines how we educate the children to bring about a better society. With subjects like educational psycology educators and parents can now be confident to raise children to the goal mentioned above.
In sum, the socialization degree of the future generation plays an important role in the wheel of fate for the society, yet it isn't the only factor to influence the society's destiny and it is unproper to expect all the children to become fully socialized. It is everyone's duty to make the world more harmonious and think seriously about the strategy for creating a better history.
