Unfortunately, they didn't test the alternate :what type of music is more likely to get a gay say yes.

没听出 digit psycchologist  Antonie(人名)  info French tune  alternate 导致了没有听懂,要是做题的话一定也会错不少。整体感觉本文相对简单,细节还是没能都听明白。

6.22 我来了~~~:victory:

Have you been having some trouble getting some digits lately when you ask a girl out? Maybe you should check what music is playing. That’s what French psychologists found. They published their research in the journal Psychology of Music.
First the researchers found a guy who was rated average looking by a group of women. Then that average Antoine talked about a couple of food products with 87 different women, aged 18 to 20. But before the conversation, half the women heard this romantic French tune: Je L’aime a Mourir.
[Clip of Je L’aime a Mourir]
The other half heard this song that most in
France agree is neutral: L’heure du Thé, or Tea Time.

[Clip of L’heure du Thé]
After talking, Antoine pulled each one aside and asked for her phone number. Only 28 percent of the women who heard the tea song gave out their info. But 52 percent of the women who listened to the love song said yes. So maybe, guys, you should wait for a romantic tune before making your move.
Unfortunately, they didn’t test the alternate: what type of music is more likely to get a guy to say yes?

Cynthia Graber

Each of us harbors(藏匿) a unique collection of bacteria, on our outsides and our insides. Now, scientists are finding that the bacteria you get at birth may depend on how you got here. Because babies born vaginally(通过产道地) have a different set of microbes than those that arrive by Caesarean(剖腹产)-section. The work appears in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The uterus(子宫) is a sterile(无菌的) environment. So, in the womb(子宫), babies don’t have any bacteria to call their own. It’s only once they enter the world that they begin to collect the microbes that will colonize their bodies and help shape their immunity. But where do these bugs come from?

Scientists sampled the bacterial flora(群落) from nine newborns and their mothers. And they found that babies who passed through the birth canal(产道) harbored bacteria that matched their moms’ vaginal microbiota(微生物区). Whereas babies delivered by C-section had microbes typically found on the skin.

The scientists say the results could help explain why babies that arrive by C-section are more susceptible to certain infections.
Vaginal microbes might be quicker than skin bugs at snagging(阻碍) all the best bodily real estate, a land grab(土地的强占) that could keep harmful infections from getting a foot in the door.】最后一句比喻nice

通过产道vaginally和剖腹产Caesarean没听懂,所以基本没明白在说什么.....专业单词较多,这篇的难度较大~要加油了

You know sometimes we don’t face that 800 pound gorilla大猩猩,凶残的男性 in the room, because wedon’t notice him in the first place. Literally, this is what researchers Christopher Chabris andDaniel Simon proved in an experiment done ten years ago.

In a video, two groups, one group with white T-shirts, the other black. Move randomly
in aroom while passing a basketball. The viewer’s task is to count how many passes the white-shirtedmembers make. But halfway through the video, a woman dressed in a gorilla suitwalks through the groups, stops , faces the camera , thumps重击 her chest and walks off. Half of all viewers miss this, I did, andit left me completely unnerved气馁的.

Chabrisand Simon have now writtena book, “The Invisible Gorilla and Other Ways OurIntuitions直觉 Deceiveus “ about all kinds of illusions we sufferedfrom. We think we see things as they really are but our vivid visual experience belies掩盖 a striking mental blindness,” they write.
They cover the illusion ofmemory, how often the memories are born fromour own embellished stories; the illusion of knowledge, we think we know much more than weactually do; the illusion of cause, we quickly assume correlation means causation.
Such overestimations have profoundconsequences: eyewitnesses sending innocents to prison; believing-wrongly- that vaccines 疫苗cause autism自闭症 simply because a correlation; or thinkingthat we can text while driving. If there’s onething we ought to take from watching the gprillafilm, it should be that texting while driving is a ticking滴答 time bomb.
But perhaps the worst illusionof all the feeling that leads all others is the illusion of confidence. We humansprofoundly overestimate our ability to see things as they are. As the physicist Richard Feynman saidThe first principle is that you must not fool yourself, and you arethe easiest person to fool .
