“Many people believe that a few individuals or small groups (family, friends, teachers, celebrities, for example) have caused them to think and behave in the way they do. Yet it is always society as a whole that defines us and our attitudes, and a few individuals.”

Different social values lead to various judgments on a certain sort of behavior, social recognition acts as one of the motives of human behavior. However, individuals and small groups also play a role in shaping and changing our mind and behaviors. As we grow from a little baby up to a social citizen, our parents, teachers, friends and so forth who consist of parts of our life company us all the time.

As two representatives of a country, culture and laws affect citizens’ life attitude and value. For instance, in America, the black were once forced to sit in the back of buses while the white had the privilege to enjoy superior seats. After the success of a series of civil rights movements leaded by Martin Luther King, black people accept equal racial rights, and it is not rare that black people and white people are equally treated and frequently seated at the same table. Similarly, before the law which declares legitimate rights of homosexuals, they couldn’t get married, not to mention to adopt a child. But now, in some countries such as the USA, some couples of them may be having a good time with their lovely adopted children on a beautiful day. The year 2005, when the film Brokeback Mountain showed, a majority of viewers highly praised the romantic love instead of feeling queasy.

Nevertheless, just like one mother can cultivate twins with different characters, one society includes all kinds of human beings like virtuous people and vile people. What matters are effects which individuals who are related to them have. The family is a child’s first class. Honest parents are inclined to breed honest children, while immoral parents tend to cheat their kids who would cheat them in return one day. As is well-known, madam curie has the honor to get the Nobel Prize twice. And her two daughters are benefited from her attitude to fame and wealth and her assiduous spirit in scientific research, as a result, they have both achieved the Nobel prizes. It is easy to conclude that the most important influencing factor which leads to their success is madam curie instead of the society which was still involved in the World War 1.


In sum, the mind and behavior of a person is affected by a fix of factors, including the social values as a whole and individuals in the society. However, to some people, homosexuality is an unknown word all their life. And they are satisfied with eating one’s fill and wearing warm clothes which concept may be passed on from their fathers.
