ISSUE130 - "How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."


In the near 10 to 20 years afterwards, those who now be identified as children will take charge of the society. To concern human beings' future, people discuss how the children are socialized in order to bring about a better society.

Since the establishment of civilization, each individual's character is more or less affected by the society. People are socialized, they interact with one another. In one hand, others' value are imposed on us to form our values, others opinion influent how we perform in public, in other hand, a certain individual's unique fashionable behavior can cause a revolution in culture to change the society's value as a whole. Today, technology as MSN, Facebook, makes it is more convenient to communicate through out the world, therefore the world is more socialized, and the fashion, culture will be changed in an unprecedented speed. How children participated in such a society, will influent more fundamentally what the future will be like.

However, to cultivate a child to become one who can bring about a better world, not only how are they socialized should be concerned, but also to help a child to behave morally, to think both creatively and skeptically. If our children are only equipped with social skills, but not have any capability to make a difference, then the future would be no better or even worse than now. Adolf Hitler is an example to illustrate the importance of morality education, his cruel character combined with an excellent social skill, instigate German Fascists to wage World War II, bought the whole world into a disaster.

Yet nobody can find the most appropriate way to raise a promising child. Every child is unique, the difference of internal character make it is unrealistic to find to a way for all children to become the best of what they can be. Also, to explore a child's potential is even more difficult, some genius do not show their real talents in an early age, like Albert Einstein, it is not until he was 4 years old did he gained the skill to talk. Some children might have the potential to be a public politician, then they need to offer more opportunities to have a public announcement, while some have the potential to be a theoretical scientist, the he or she should be given more time alone in order to have an independent profound thought. If John F. Kennedy were forced to be trained as a mathematician and Stephen Hawking were expected to be a political leader, it more like they both failed, then we would lose two top elites.

In sum, how children are socialized influent the future human's world, while we can find a way to raise them most properly. And to expect the children bring about a better society, morality, ways of thinks should also be educated.
