With the development of the society, now people are more and more concerned the arts. But there are still significant numbers of the citizens are hungry or unemployed.
Should the nations suspend the government funding for the arts if vast numbers of the citizens are hungry and unemployed? In my opinion, the nations should not do it.

First of all, although the material needs are base of human life, the cultural needs are also significant. Like the material needs, if the citizens can’t meet the cultural needs, they will be sad and unhealthy, even feel a sense of loss. And the arts can help the people meet the cultural needs of the citizens and make the world of human beings warm and peaceful. For example, now some doctors treat the mental patients by appreciate the paintings. The find that appreciating pictures can make the mental patients calm down and these patients can control their moods.

Second, with the development of the economy, now the art has become an industry. For instance, people can easily buy the arts from the arts shops and they can always appreciate the arts in the museum and so on. Even the unemployed citizens can get jobs from the industry of arts. And then the nations can get more and more taxes from this industry, so the nations also can use these taxes help someone who are hungry. The arts will make the economy dramatically increasing.

Last, if the most taxpayers ask for using the government funding for arts, then it is reasonable that the nations do it. Because the most government funding comes from taxpayers, they can decide the use of the government funding.

However, the factors which make people are hungry and unemployed are diverse, so the nations should find the most important factors to solve the problem about hunger and unemployment. Otherwise, even if the nations suspend the funding for arts, the vast numbers of the citizens may be still hungry and unemployed.

To sum up, although there are more and more problems about the citizens arising, the nations still should provide some government funding for the arts.
