With the booming economy of the world during the last century, goods, as a central witness, also experienced an increasing prevalence. As a result, our lives, now, are filled with various goods, from what we eat to what we use. Correspondingly, advertising, as an effective mean of publicizing, is adopted by most producers. It is not surprising that two points of view towards advertising come up. Some people say that advertising tell us about new products that may improve our lives, but others say that it encourages us to buy things we do not need , which causes a big waste.
Generally speaking, advertising do not tell you what the goods’ disadvantages (shortcomings /defects/blemish/flaw) are but boast how useful, how delicious, how beautiful, they are. It easily misleads people’s penchant for these goods. Sometimes, people bring home what looks like fitting their tastes very well without informed the defects, just to find they are exactly rubbish. Also, in some cases, girls are simply charmed by the outlook of the goods and just get it for fun. In these points, advertising do causes our limited resources more short of.
With all these disadvantages brought with, advertising’s advantages overweighed its flaws. The foremost advantage is it makes people well informed of many goods both old and new. With the information it offered, people could easily make the goods’ properties clearly, which is very important for those who are going to purchase the goods, especially when the goods are exactly expensive. Also, people could compare various brands of the same goods through the advertising on TV quickly without do any walking, and pick up what you prefer.
It do saves people lots of time and improved people’s lives.
Admittedly, advertising encourages us to buy things that we really do not need but, it makes more effect to inform people with news products, and offers us a novel model of shopping.
